Chapter 268 - Big Bonk

Leyvi stood at the entrance of the lair, facing the chaotic scene ahead. The Qi-infused Metal Bat had grown into a massive, glowing avatar of the metal bat, illuminating the area around him and casting his shadow dramatically against the cavern walls. The air crackled with energy.
In the distance, the Demonic Earthworm was in a frenzy. Crown Prince Dastan's Crown War Tank had drawn its full attention. The earthworm, enraged by the destruction of its eggs, had lunged at the tank, coiling its massive body around the vehicle in an attempt to crush it. But the tier-5 spirit artifact was far too durable for the creature to damage. Undeterred, the earthworm began secreting torrents of mucus, flooding the area in an attempt to trap the tank permanently.
"Dammit! This prince's precious Crown War Tank is being defiled by this disgusting mucus! Leyvi! Are you done yet? This prince is about to be drowned in this abomination!" Dastan's voice echoed from inside the tank, equal parts furious and panicked. Although his vehicle collections were all tier-5 spirit artifacts it was only in terms of toughness and durability. Their firepower was severely lacking. So he couldn't possibly inflict any damage on the earthworm even if he shot it.
Leyvi didn't respond. He was already in motion, his body coiled like a spring as he took aim at the earthworm's head hundreds of meters away. With a roar, he hurled the Metal Bat with all his strength, adding an explosive burst of Qi to propel it forward.
"Take this—Rocket Metal Bat!"
The bat shot through the air like a comet, trailing a blazing streak of energy. The force of the throw created a shockwave that rippled through the lair, shaking the ground and walls. The Demonic Earthworm, sensing the incoming threat, turned its massive head just in time to see the glowing bat hurtling toward it but was too late to react.
BONK!
The sound was deafening, echoing through the cavern like a gong. The bat struck the earthworm's head with a resounding bonk, a completely unexpected sound coming from such a massive force. Its massive form shuddered, then went completely still as the Qi-infused bat's effect took hold.
The earthworm's body wiggled for a few moments, and it slumped to the ground, unconscious.
Crown Prince Dastan, still inside the tank, stared in awe as the Demonic Earthworm slumped to the ground, completely unconscious. The loud bonk from the Metal Bat still echoed in his ears. "Daa hahaha! Leyvi, you did it! That was the loudest bonk this prince had ever heard! It happened just as you said. This prince wonders which creative blacksmith created that tier-5 spirit weapon. That person has quite the humor!" His voice boomed through the tank's speakers, filled with excitement.
"Hahaha! Hahaha!" Leyvi laughed heartily, his satisfaction evident. A Commander-Level Demonic Beast had been defeated just like that! It was a far cry from the all-out battle he'd endured the last time he faced one. Seeing the Metal Bat hit the Demonic Earthworm exactly where he intended was proof of how well his Aiming Expert benefit worked. Throwing a Qi-charged Metal Bat at his target, supported by his aiming cheat, might be a better combo than he had ever imagined.
"Dastan, it's time to loot this lair! But leave the remaining eggs alone," Leyvi shouted while creating a bright ball of Qi above him like a mini sun. The lair immediately lit up, revealing its vast, mucus-covered expanse. Previously, Leyvi's Qi control had been too mediocre to pull off something like this—he could only manage a basic layer of Qi around him for illumination. But now, it was easy.
The earthworm eggs were just large, unremarkable eggs. While they held no immediate benefit, there was no reason to destroy them. These eggs would hatch into the next generation of Demonic Earthworms, replenishing the lair's ecosystem in the future.
"What about the sleeping earthworm?" Dastan asked as he exited the Crown War Tank, landing on the massive creature's body.
"Just leave it alone for now," Leyvi replied. He had no intention of leaving the precious body of the Commander-Level Demonic Earthworm behind. It was a perfect gift for Ava to enhance her body cultivation. Her flexibility paired well with the earthworm's own supple nature. Leyvi chuckled at the funny coincidence.
He planned to kill the earthworm, but only after looting the lair. If he had tried to kill it now and it had somehow woken up, all their efforts would have been wasted.
And so, Dastan, grumbling in frustration due to the mucus, proceeded to store his defiled Crown War Tank after scraping off the hardened mucus. Meanwhile, Leyvi moved to each mucus pool, emptying them into his internal storage space, far from the other items he had stored. The gross texture of the mucus made him feel like puking every time he touched it, but he endured for Sawi's sake. She would find a way to make use of it.
Afterward, Leyvi leaped across the lair, avoiding the mucus-covered spots, to where the pit containing the Earth Essence Beads was located. Crown Prince Dastan was already waiting for him there.
"Wow, I didn't expect the arrogant and greedy Crown Prince to wait for me and not touch the treasures yet. Hahaha!" Leyvi joked.
"Oi, Leyvi! This prince admits to being arrogant, but when did this prince act greedy? Just because this prince is rich doesn't mean this prince is greedy. Stop slandering this prince!" Dastan retorted.
"Tch tch. Dastan, it looks like you really haven't had any friends before this. It's normal for friends to joke around and make fun of each other. If you have to act seriously all the time with someone, then they're not your friend," Leyvi said.
"Is that so? This prince didn't know," Dastan replied, his tone softening slightly. "But look at these Earth Essence Beads, Leyvi. There are countless of them! The pit is so deep. It's more than what this prince ever expected! Just how long have these earthworms been producing these treasures? But now they're all ours! We are the greatest treasure hunters! Daa hahaha!"
"Hahaha! Our first true treasure from the Mystic Realm. Later, we're going to find more! Alright, Dastan, let's divide them equally. I'll take half, and you take the other half," Leyvi said.
"Eh? Wasn't it twenty percent? Why are you giving this prince half?" Crown Prince Dastan was caught off guard, his body trembling slightly.
"That twenty percent was when you were still an annoying, loud, stupid stranger. But now you're my annoying, loud, stupid friend. Obviously, now we have to divide the treasures we find equally. Tch tch. This is common sense, Dastan," Leyvi said, shaking his head.
"Is-Is that so?" Dastan's voice choked slightly. He felt confused as to why his eyes suddenly felt watery, blurring his vision.
Leyvi was dumbfounded. Why is this guy almost crying? Aren't you supposed to be happy that I'm giving you what you want? You complained many times that I wasn't being fair, but now you cry?
"Oi, Dastan. What's wrong with you? Are you crying because you'll finally receive your fiancée's affection after giving her these grand gifts?" Leyvi joked.
"Dammit, Leyvi! Shut up! When did this prince cry? Some dust entered this prince's eyes while being excited to see these treasures. Stop slandering this prince!" Dastan snapped, quickly dispersing the tears gathering in his eyes.
"Hahaha! Why are you so shy about it? There's nothing wrong with feeling like that. Maybe your fiancée will finally see your sincere feelings toward her. I can put in a few good words about you to increase your good husband value."
"Hmph, this prince doesn't need your good words. If this prince can't make her like this prince with this prince's own effort, then there's no point. In any case, there's no good words coming from a bumpkin like you anyway. She might even hate me more."
"Cheh, what do you know, Clown Prince? You don't know how convincing my words are. I learned it from my panda wife," Leyvi shot back.

Leyvi was silent, staring at Crown Prince Dastan for a moment before breaking into a smile. "Well, well. Would you look at that? Our Crown Prince has finally grown up! He has finally learned how to be a compassionate human! Hooray! Congratulations to the Howling Kingdom! The citizens finally have a somewhat decent Crown Prince to lead them in the future! It's a joyful day!" Leyvi said, acting extra dramatic.
Crown Prince Dastan's mouth and eyebrow twitched aggressively. He already regretted saying those words. He wasn't sure if he'd gotten a normal friend or not. Leyvi didn't seem like he would stop celebrating anytime soon.
"Arrghh! Shut up, Leyvi! Collect the Earth Essence Beads before this prince changes his mind!" Dastan felt exhausted for some reason.
