Raven tresses
🕑 Added 2022-04-25 10:36:51 +0000 UTCShe walks in beauty, like the night
Of cloudless climes and starry skies;
And all that’s best of dark and bright
Meet in her aspect and her eyes;
Thus mellowed to that tender light
Which heaven to gaudy day denies.
One shade the more, one ray the less,
Had half impaired the nameless grace
Which waves in every raven tress,
Or softly lightens o’er her face;
Where thoughts serenely sweet express,
How pure, how dear their dwelling-place.
– from a poem by Lord Byron (1788-1824)

PHOTO: In Hollywood, California, there is an odd law that says places that serve alcohol, like bars, clubs and music/dance venues, must close by 2 am. Sometimes, as I am being ushered out the door, I run into another night owl who is not yet ready to go to bed. I met Daphne one such night. We went and spent the next few hours listening to old Chess label Jazz recordings in my studio and creating photographs.
