Photo Essay - Eclipse
🕑 Added 2021-03-24 10:57:31 +0000 UTCEclipse Monday has one of the coolest names, doesn’t she?
With her slender build, pale skin and cascading curly tresses she also looks like she just walked out of a Pre-Raphaelite painting, like John Everett Millais’s Ophelia or one of dozens of paintings by Dante Gabriel Rossetti of his wife, Elizabeth Siddall. So I set about shooting her with some golden light, evoking the palette and look of paintings from the 1800s.
But Eclipse lives in the current time, not 150 years ago. So I guess I should not have been surprised when she discarded her clothes and revealed a fairly large contemporary tattoo inked on her torso!
If I had photographed her for a story as a photo journalist, I would have left the ink as is. But I am not a photo journalist reporting news; instead I view myself as an artist who happens to paints with a camera and light. So for these images I removed her ink with the judicious use of Photoshop.
This is the first photo essay I am sharing on Patreon. I hope to share many more in the weeks and months to come. I hope you enjoyed seeing it. Please feel free to send me feedback at patreon@jasperphoto.com.
