The next map theme is going to be the World Tree. I foresee a massive tree battlemap, both interior and exterior. The main trunk will feature a spiral layout, with multiple tiers. Higher up the branches may have rooms and corridors within. On the outside there should be some platforms with rope bridges. And some exotic fruits or/or flowers. It should have a grandiose fey effect to it, maybe at its heart a magical force of some kind. As for the alternate, I'm thinking of giving it a more autumn tone, maybe its partially dormant or even dying off.

Now that gives me some great ideas. I already have the tree going, but now I'm gonna redo some stuff and really make it a whole planar area. I'll see if I can capture the grandeur of Yggdrasil.

World Tree like Yggdrasil, theres even the underside with the frost giants, you could incorporate the rainbow bridge to other worlds or space platforms of magic

Now That is truly inspired. I think I can work with this in. Love the idea that it is a fixed point in each plane. Getting the branches right is the real trick. Thanks you Eric

A world tree as a type of portal, because the tree exists as a fixed point in each plane or alternate reality. The branches each lead to a different reality.

Wild Fey seige. Maybe incorporate a story or two from Irish Fae folklore. Potential fire breakout. Bug infestation, giant ones. Passing the crown, like you say the tree may be dying and once it passes to a new king/queen it blooms again. I'll give you 50 more ideas tomorrow
