I took a bit of time off at the holidays to not play Starfield for the sake of my mental health. But rest assured, I am back at the grind. I really want to keep this video short (less than 20 minutes) but I just keep writing the script. It's up to 11 pages and I'm only 1/3rd of the way through it. For reference the Fallout 4 video was 22 pages. My target right now is March. If I can get it released then, I'll be satisfied. I don't like being one of those YouTubers that only releases 3 videos per year, but I guess dems da breaks.
Speaking of releasing more videos per year, I'd like to accelerate the pace at which I make the DCOM videos. I've been trying to do at least one a month, but I haven't always kept to that, especially as I work on the main series videos. This is the only thing I've thought of bringing an outside editor on for, but I like editing and I'm hesitant to trust someone else with that aspect of my productions. I haven't made a decision about this yet, I'm just letting you know where my thoughts are.
We also launched a discord server for the channel last month, and I think it's gone well so far. We watched It's the Girl in the Red Truck, Charlie Brown together, so that sucked. But overall it's been nice to interact more directly with my community. It's also been kind of a big time-sink on my part, so I'll be looking for more ways to automate it, or maybe find someone I can hand it off to to manage.

Bro. Bro. Just listen to me, bro. I properly use commas before the word bro, bro. I also use oxford commas in all appropriate situations, whether they be about objects, people, animals, or YouTubers. You can trust me. Now that my resume is out of the way, and I have properly developed a rapport with an internet stranger by referring to them in a friendly and familiar (but totally manly) tone, let's get down to business. (1) I signed up for this Patreon a few days ago. That DCOM shit is hilarious. I still haven't bothered to examine your page closely enough to find out what "DCOM" means, but the Horse Sense sense video is the first thing I watched after purchasing my membership. I do not regret my actions. (2) I dunno, bro. I don't make videos. I don't know how much one's editing style can be conveyed to and copied by a non-union Mexican equivalent. I don't know how much you can change your secret sauce before people no longer want to gulp down your submarine sandwich (not like that). But, most importantly... (3) In looking through your older videos on YouTube, stumbling blindly until I came upon something (not like that) that looked like it had a long enough run time and potentially funny subject matter to interest me, I found your two LA Noirer videos through what I assume was by the grace of providence alone. Well, screw me silly with a saguaro cactus! That was some of the funniest writing I've ever heard (EDIT: Oooohh man, and the delivery, especially after the car accident! I'm dying here), and it couldn't have required much editing. "That's when I saw it. It had wheels that went on for miles. It definitely wasn't my car, and I don't think it was Bukowski's because he didn't have the keys. He never said it was his car either; I just assumed and got in. To this day, I'm absolutely certain we stole that car together." I very rarely laugh out loud. You see, the orphanage in which I was raised burned down just after I escaped one night, and I had to watch as the smell of burning flesh and the agonizing screams of roasting children skipped through the air like tulips in a Holland field. That, along with some other formative experiences, has made me a rather taciturn fellow. Well, sir, LA Noirer made me laugh many times. Perhaps I was laughing for the first time in years. Perhaps they were the first laughs that have emanated from my unceasing rictus ever since I burned down that orphana-- I mean, since my orphanage burned down from a gas leak. Whatever. I went on to be the ghost of the greatest drummer ever, so I don't care what anyone thinks. What's relevant is that I liked those videos of yours. So...yeah...Keep on truckin'!

the idea behind shorter videos is that I would be able to release more of them per year. so you'd get the same overall minutes just on a broader variety

I agree, I watch the almost hour long Mass effect video all the time and love the length. I acknowledge that channel growth might be slower with a more sluggish release schedule, but personally the longer the video the more I have to enjoy.

I think my favorite part of the girl in the red truck screening was it being 48 minutes long. That and her living room flag. The discord is pretty fun, and I appreciate how quiet it is. I don't think the time sink part will go away, you just have to actively ignore it but like you mentioned, you'd need a moderator to make sure people don't vandalize stuff when you're not watching.
