Zaboru, along with his family and his girlfriend, were planning to watch a movie together—and it was none other than The Little Mermaid. Three days earlier, the film had premiered in the United States, and Zaboru had received a special invitation to attend. However, he politely declined, choosing instead to experience it with his loved ones when it was officially released in Japan.
Now, the day has come. They were heading to a theater in Tokyo, ready to watch it together as a family. It was a decision that made the moment more meaningful to him—sharing joy, and excitement with the people who mattered most.
“Nii-san, quick, quick!” Sanika bounced with excitement, tugging at Zaboru’s sleeve as they entered the theater. Her energy was contagious, and she couldn't stop giggling at the thought of finally watching The Little Mermaid on the big screen. Zaboru chuckled, amused by her enthusiasm. “Wait up, Sani-chan,” he said, trying to keep pace with her.
Their parents followed close behind, smiling at the cheerful atmosphere. Ayumi, Zaboru’s girlfriend, joined them as well, fitting in naturally with the family. Zaboru wore a discreet cap and sunglasses, opting for a simple disguise—after all, his fame had grown significantly in recent years, and he didn’t want to cause a scene at the theater.
As they walked to their seats, Zaboru leaned toward Ayumi and whispered, “Sorry I brought the whole family along. I hope it’s not too much.”
Ayumi smiled warmly and shook her head. “It’s totally fine, Zabo. I love spending time with your family too. They’re so fun—just like you,” she said with a soft laugh.
Soon, the group settled into their row of seats in the theater. Zaboru had come well-prepared, carrying a large tray filled with popcorn, drinks, and a few sweets for everyone. He passed them out one by one while Sanika clearly excited. The lights began to dim, the previews started rolling, and with a quiet excitement buzzing between them, the movie experience was about to begin.
The theater was packed wall to wall, every seat filled with eager moviegoers buzzing with excitement. The atmosphere was electric—families, couples, children, and longtime Disney fans alike had gathered to witness the long-awaited release of The Little Mermaid in Japan. Zaboru, nestled in his seat with popcorn in hand, found himself smiling as the movie unfolded.
The overall plot remained the same as he remembered from his previous life, but this version was something else entirely. Since the movie had been produced using the advanced animation techniques and equipment available in the 1990s of this world, the visuals were significantly enhanced. The colors were richer, the movement more fluid, and the underwater scenes felt more immersive and vibrant than anything he’d ever seen before the old school Disney magic are clearly displayed in this movie . He nodded in quiet satisfaction, appreciating the technical improvements that brought the beloved story to life in a new and stunning way.
The audience around him was completely drawn in. There were audible gasps, murmurs, and expressions of awe during many key scenes. One standout moment that left the crowd breathless was when Ursula, the sea witch, tricked Prince Eric to marry him by transforming into Vanessa and stealing Ariel’s voice. The sinister tension in that scene had the audience glued to their seats.
As the film reached its joyful conclusion—Ariel and Prince Eric sharing a heartfelt wedding surrounded by friends and family—the entire theater lit up with smiles and quiet applause. The ending tied everything together beautifully, delivering the kind of heartwarming finale that left everyone walking out of the theater feeling lighter, inspired, and completely satisfied.
After the movie, Sanika couldn’t stop talking about it. Her eyes sparkled with excitement as she exclaimed, “Whoa! That movie was so good! But don’t you think Ariel should’ve kicked Ursula’s butt, Nii-san?”
Zaboru chuckled and gently ruffled her hair. “Heh, maybe if it were you in the movie, Sani-chan, Ursula wouldn’t have stood a chance. Hahaha.”
Keiko then said, “But really, Zaboru—this movie was planned by you, right? You’re really talented at writing stories, even the romantic parts~ I guess Ayumi’s in safe hands, huh?”
Ayumi blushed, clearly flustered, while Zaboru’s mom, Keiko, grinned teasingly. She loved playfully embarrassing her future daughter-in-law whenever she got the chance.
Zaboru chuckled, and at the same time, his father Zanichi let out a low laugh. “I bet you’re already planning more movies for Disney, aren’t you, son?” he asked with a knowing smile.
Zaboru grinned, eyes twinkling. “You know me too well, Dad.”
Hearing that, Sanika’s eyes lit up with excitement. “Really!? Tell me, Nii-san! What’s the next movie about?” she asked, practically bouncing on her heels.
Zaboru chuckled and leaned down to whisper, “It’s a secret.”
He burst out laughing as Sanika pouted and gave his shoulder a playful smack. “You’re the worst!” she said, though her grin betrayed how much she was enjoying the moment.
The whole family laughed together, wrapped in the kind of warmth that made the evening unforgettable.
Meanwhile, back in the United States, Walt Disney himself was sitting comfortably in his office at the Disney Animation headquarters, grinning from ear to ear. “Hehehe, The Little Mermaid is doing incredibly well! It’s such a good movie—everyone’s loving it!” he said to himself, visibly proud of the success.
But after a moment of celebration, he stood up with renewed focus. “Alright, we can’t relax just yet! There’s still a lot of work ahead. Let’s keep the momentum going and dive into the next big projects that Zaboy entrusted us with—Hercules, The Lion King, and The Iron Giant! We’ve got no time to waste!”
With that enthusiastic declaration, the Disney Animation Studio burst into action. The creative energy across the campus surged as animators, writers, and directors regrouped. Following Zaboru’s strategic plan, the studio restructured its pipeline by establishing three fully dedicated animation teams—each assigned to one of the upcoming films.
This was a bold and ambitious move, but morale was high, and the teams were fueled by the success of The Little Mermaid. Zaboru’s influence was being felt across the entire studio, setting a new pace and standard for animated storytelling in the late '90s.
