He's gotta have that mentality that he's got no ties, work up that confidence, even if it's fake, fake it til you make it. He's probably bald in order to make weight, unironically, btw. Also, come on. He's kinda right, Aoki and Kimura are no longer his senpais, and yet, they're still calling him "Barfmichi" as if Yamada Naomichi isn't his name. He's a pro boxer at another gym, he ain't your "Barfmichi" anymore.
