Books tumble down around him where he falls into a shelf and an inkwell tips over on his desk, spilling black across an open page.
Aziraphale stays stunned on the ground, teary eyed and refuses to look at Crowley who is stammering apologies above him, hands reaching.
Aziraphale yells “DONT!!!!!” stunning Crowley mid apology with legs bending to kneel, whispering “you need to LEAVE”.
Without another word Crowley stumbles out of the bookshop to his Bentley. Panic is ripping through his chest, hands shaking. He watches in silent dread as Metatron enter the bookshop. Time stands still. Crowley’s breath is caught in his throat, struggling to get out as his hands clench tight against his thighs. This can’t be happening. This can’t be how it ends.
The Metatron reemerges alone. He shoots a withering look towards Crowley before heading to the elevator with an angry tug at his coat lapels, staring ahead as the doors close.
He stayed. HE STAYED. The thought pounds in Crowley’s head like a mallet. HE STAYED. Heart thundering against his ribcage, he turns towards the shop and…stops. The lights are off. The sign suddenly turned to close. The silence is heavy and unbearable. Any notion of running across the street to his angel drains out of his body at the palpable chill emanating from the scene before him. The angel stayed… but he had told Crowley to leave.
He meant it.

EEP! We talk a LOT about Aziraphale being gripped by The Kiss and his hedonistic side a la Ox Rib Feasting drives him to Crowley.
But what if Crowley has an awakening just as strong, compelling him to reach out again, willing to do anything to feel the angel’s lips pressed against his. Dismantling his carefully crafted facade of nihilism with every second passing.
Possessed.
Haunted.
