In the original ending the parents got back together but Robin Williams fought to have it changed. He believed it sent a bad message to kids.

So glad you loved it! They all worked hard for that ending of not getting back together to show kids not every family is alike. As a kid I also learned how much it takes to raise multiple children, and what all goes into it

I do think this is the best kid’s movie that deals with the topic of divorce and I like the realistic ending where the parents don’t always get back together.

I did visit the Mrs. doubtfire house shortly after Robin passed as I live in the city where it’s located. That memorial was beautiful. Hard to believe it’s been 10 years.
