I highly suspect that the man who was convicted of rape didn't actually commit rape, but had a consensual affair with a handmaid. I'm sure under this new government, rape is any kind of sex that is not sanctioned by the state.

This show is simply spectacular. It's utterly depressing and I can't tell you how many times I cried. At the same time, it's so incredibly powerful, women are so powerful and can survive so many things.

interesting side fact: at women‘s march or other protestd for womens rights all over the world people dressed up in handmaids costumes. it’s become a cultural phenomenon bc the story feels so close to reality (and in some countries it sadly is happening) and it serves as a scary reminder to fight for equality and to never ever let something like this happen.

Another thing this show also does very well is symbolisms. There are a ton of things throughout the show that have a deeper meaning than what they appear to be. I have to admit, a lot of those things fly over my head. My friend usually has to point them out. Or people on Reddit

This show is so depressing, yet so amazing. I usually steer away from dark stuff, but this I just had to watch.

This show will get you pissed off, annoyed and swearing at every episode . Its terrifying on what happens . But the acting cinematography and music choices is fenomenal . Lots of familiar faces (at least for me.) ( yvonne strahovski from Chuck , i love her and her acting shes fucking amazing in this)

Get ready to be pissed in every episode with moments of happiness & hope lol and you will definitely cry at some point. The handmaids are named by their commander’s first name so Of(first name), commander Waterford’s name is Fred therefore June is Offred. They call the this new version of the US Gilead & it was formed by a radical religious group that definitely twists the Bible to fit their agenda. Can’t wait for more reactions!
