WIP Update & Pics
🕑 Added 2023-03-01 01:28:02 +0000 UTCHey all!
I spent all day testing everything and I think I'm finally at a point where I feel comfortable sharing where I'm at with the next set of ingredients and updates. There were a couple of times I really wanted to post some WIP's but I kept running into issues and I didn't want to showcase anything that might not work out.
I've made a lot of improvements and fixes to the preserving system. I've overhauled the tea curing and coffee drying recipes and meshes to match all the new stuff as well. One of the biggest improvements is that I've fixed it so that preserving items like racks can go into your inventory without spoiling, yay! Each type of preserving (Cure, Dry, Ferment) will now have it's own characteristics that I will explain in more detail on the download pages. Some examples:
- Olives will naturally cure on any surface in a cellar in a salt tray but if you place them outside in the sun they will spoil.
- Apricots are dried and so they will not dry on any surface in a cellar but will cure naturally if placed outside in warm weather.
- Vinegar will ferment naturally if placed on a surface in a cellar but will spoil in the heat outside. It will also last forever in the barrel if it's fermented to it's final stage.
Vinegar and nectars will function a little different than other preserving recipes. Instead of getting a different product the longer they age, you'll get a better quality product as it ages. The value of those products will change based on it's quality so you can get a great price if you sell something that's excellent quality but you have to wait longer to get it.
I also added a couple more ingredient recipes to the line-up like butter, buttermilk, and a butter mold woodworking recipe.
The butter is a neat add-on, it doesn't need to age or anything but you need to let it set before you're able to cut butter off the block.
I got a little creative with the dried apricots and made it so that you get a cannister of dried apricots that your sim can pull single servings from either to eat or to use in other recipes. This looks SO cute on the counter you guys, I love it. I think I'm going to do all my dried foods this way moving forward.
There's a lot of other small fixes but I won't list them here, you can check them out in the update notes when they're released. I still have some stuff to wrap up with these but I'm hoping to have them available by the weekend and the food recipes will follow pretty quickly after that, likely next week.

I am loving this. Wondering if you could take this and make a fermented fish, soy, and clam/muscle sauce. Then with the fermented sauce you can make a fermentation crock that you can use the cabbage you grow to make kimchi: (uses cabbage, onions, carrots, apples/pears [make a kimchi sauce: ginger, garlic, fermented fish/oyster/soy sauce, chili and salt]) and sauerkraut (cabbage, salt, garlic and onion). From their you can make kimchi pancakes, kimchi rice, kimchi ramen, and you can even do hotdogs with sauerkraut, pork chops with sauerkraut, you can make a Ruben sandwich. This helps you utilize the breads you can bake to make the hot dogs and the sandwiches while incorporating the new salt, press/juice/extractor, and fermenter.

Best creator EVER π I started a Rags to Riches only using harvestables, the mill, the preserving racks and the juice press. two sims-weeks into the game just selling spices, tea blends, coffee blends and olive oil with my street shop table and I am making money like there is no tomorrow and starting my brand new family πππ

They all still work on the preserving shelves no matter where you put them so you can put those in the garage on the shelves if you like. I'm going to be adding some more preserving shelf options in the future.

These are awesome! Do they need to be in a cellar like you mentioned? Can they be placed in any room inside the house - like a garage?
