Part of the charm of the Steve Jobs keynotes was that he was using the computer "with you" - When the demos went sideways, it was part of a shared experience we all had with tech.

I would agree. The upgradeability of my 2010 Mac Pro and the just the base power of the 2013 Mac Pro I found pretty impressive after using the 2008 Mac Pro to make these videos for years.

Chris Nielsen

Intel Mac’s have personality (sometimes a crude one at that), and a modern compatibility with running other OSes that will be supported for years to come! Not locking the computer down to sub par options like Sorbet Leopard and MorphOS, or godforbid a power Pc UBOOT/VXWORKS!

Around Intel Macs? Interesting.

Chris Nielsen

Although my Macintosh collection will center around intel’s, I still have a soft spot for the power pcs of old. Just don’t know how I’ll use one with a 55inch display…

Qix was the same for me. I put many quarters into it, probably never cleared the first screen, but loved the concept. Also, it's great to hear you like the "gimmie ya money" bit. I always liked how that turned out.

Dante Blando

I should've said that I love the Qix sounds. I sucked at video games as a kid, but man I loved that one to suck at. Oh, and I hope you'll do more Cube 2037 stuff. I rewatch the original bit just so I can crack up at "gimme ya money!"

I’ve actually not tried the DOS card yet. The machine does boot though. I’m also missing the cable. I’ll report back when I try it!

A purist collector would not be impressed, but I think that's pretty cool. Does it work?

Corbin Johnson

Happy to help. 25,000 is probably a small number for a Mac anyway. So I think it’s reasonable for it to be in the column. So I have a Quadra 610 with a DOS card, but I don’t think it has the “DOS Compatible” label. Is it still in the cool kids club? Or do I just have some plain Quadra 610 that just has some aftermarket junk thrown into it?

My 80's hair? ... well ... yeah. I set that one up, didn't I.. lol

The number manufactured was 25K vs. 10K for the Macintosh TV and 12K for the TAM. So you're right. I was thinking the Q610 DOS was 10K. The Q610 DOS value is less driven by collectors than the other two, so that's why I categorized them that way. At least I can say one person wanted to discuss the chart. Thanks!

Douglas

Nice hair

I mean is the Quadra 610 DOS compatible really that rare? as rare as a TAM or Macintosh TV? 😇

Robert Butler

Nice Macbeth! Lol
