Yeah I was thinking about retro game manuals while working on this, and how since they were physical things anyway, it's not like anyone could've stopped you from marking the maps and passages with notes (Shouts out to Tunic for keeping that novelty alive). That is pretty smart that Ultima Underworld allowed for that, too. I definitely have more plans for extra pins / icons, but am currently working on other gameplay features ahead of it. I also would like the player to have an entire journal to themselves that they can type / sketch in, but similarly have set that on the backburner behind more "active" gameplay elements. And thank you, I was really happy with how the seed system came out, and enjoy continuing to use it more subtle ways. Like where fireflies come out at night — that's determined by both the date and seed, so if your friend is playing in a village with the same seed, you'll see them in the same spots.

I love this. It reminds me of older games, like Ultima Underworld, where the map was incredibly minimalistic. There were some things that might appear as you explored, but you were allowed to make and erase notes as you went along, and I loved that about it. I hope that a statement on direction for this allows us to "type" in text on the map as well instead of drawing/scribbling. I know the feature is basic right now; we'll see what you have planned and maybe comment when you're ready to take more suggestions about what map tools might look like! Having different icons for markers might not be a bad thing either (maybe these can be discovered or unlocked) and different colors (again, a discovery or unlock). I also really appreciate that each game is its own seed as well. Thanks for that! That makes each playthrough a little unique!

Yeah I realize that just because I like drawing and have a full tablet and everything doesn't mean every player will, so there will almost certainly be some kind of alternative tagging system in place. Plus I want controller players to be able to utilize the map without needing to swap back to a mouse for it.

I think it's a great idea to have the map be very minimalistic and then being able to draw and add to it yourself, tho maybe having an option to have it put some more things you find in automatically when you do find them would be nice for those that can't draw well. Tho definitely keep that optional, it sounds awesome to be able to draw the things you find on the map in your own way.
