Hi, apologies for such a long period without new content.
I have no idea where all the time went... Well, I do; let me explain.
Time sink
Initially, when I made the poll, I wanted to drop an enhanced alternative angle when the polls ended. When I looked at it, something was missing, and I decided to make another animation to supplement it.
I wanted to do something that wasn't already done, or at least less commonly done, and decided to go with this one. Wasted so much time on it; now I can see why it's so uncommon to find anything other than a looping sausage going into a donut.
It turned out to be an extremely time-consuming process. Most of the time was spent not on animation itself, but on the bullshit you get trying to simulate anything other than two simple meshes colliding. Time sink is real. I thought I would never be able to fix all the errors, slides, contact points after simulations, etc., to make them look very good.
I also didn't take it seriously enough to spend most of my time on it, thinking it would turn out okay even without post-sim editing.
This post isn't about a breakdown, but just take look at this shit. This is what I got after a blockout pass that I thought was fine. How can you not catch a morale debuff and loose all the will to continue?
Don't be a quitter.
I think most of us, at some point, wanted to accomplish something but dropped the idea immediately when presented with any kind of obstacle that would require real work and dedication.
At some point, I was thinking if I should stop, drop it, and do another one instead. I thought about this for a minute and said NO. I would not be a quitting-ass bitch who quits as soon as things got a bit hard. Fuck this shit. You won't do anything until you fix and finish what you started. Finish this shit, and THEN - and then you'll do a new one.
If you keep quitting, you'll likely never accomplish anything serious. At least try to go all in, and if you fail or things are really unsalvageable - fuck it, at least you know you tried and won't have regrets about not even trying.
I know every one of you has the capacity to press forward if the end goal is something that you really want, even when it's hard and you don't really want to do it. Don't be a quitter.
What's next?
Next on the line is a poll winner. I know exactly what I want to do, and this will be... 2 parts? I think, animation.
I am thinking about making weekly WIP posts, showing some things that were done. And if nothing was done... fuck, let's not think about it. In theory, this should give me some discipline and a reason to keep up the good pace. And I know some of you may say that a good pace is an animation every 3 days, but I personally can't do it.
