Lila is an artifact wielder, so reality doesn't change for her. she can see through swaps and notice them.

Another, though I'm sure intentional, inconsistency. Why would Lila recall having swapped for that fetish if it controls reality around her? For a moment I thought James was going to swap the full body of Goddess Emma to Lila too without asking during the more abstract one, he's gotten quite careless and reckless after all.
