MONSTER surgical laser
🕑 Added 2020-08-30 23:09:32 +0000 UTCI got a great deal on this giant green surgical laser last year, but it wasn't in working condition when I bought it. It wasn't until last night that I finally got it to run. Most of the work I did on the laser was plumbing related, and in fact when I first tried starting it up the inside got SOAKED by a hose fitting that broke.
This laser can run CW or pulsed (q-switched) and the output power is likely in excess of 100W average of green light at full power. When the q-switch is running, peak power is many thousands of watts. Interestingly, the laser is arc lamp pumped, which means it is likely one of the last big medical YAG lasers to be designed this way.
These pictures don't do the laser justice, because the amount of light coming from it is absolutely INSANE. Compared to the100W blue handheld laser I made earlier this year, this green laser is nearly 14 times brighter with better beam specs and much higher peak power. That being said, this green laser isn't nearly as portable. :D

Nice work my friend! Add plumber to your resume, it's a skill that is often overlooked and reflects humility. :)

it looks awesome! when you turn it on, is it like a bugs bunny cartoon and there is just a hole through your wall, the neighbors house, the next row of houses, through all the cars at the carmart, and we pan back to you looking out the hole at the damage the laser hath wrought.
