Bad news and good news and bad news.
🕑 Added 2020-04-22 12:14:48 +0000 UTCWe'll start with the bad news. Unit 68 is going on hiatus for a short while. This is because of the good news, which is that I bought myself a new computer (financed in part by your continued patronage). It is lightning fast at rendering, doing in seconds what used to take hours. My old rig would sometimes not even finish some renders, timing out after several days in some cases. The above image, which was only ever a rough test, took all of 25 seconds to render. It would have taken at least a hundred times that long with my Mac.
The other bad news, however, is that the new box is a PC, and transferring the necessary terabytes of programs is proving difficult. I'll get it sorted as soon as may be, and then the fun will begin.

Yep, gaming is where the speed is needed, and art and animation get to go along for the ride. I can live with that. For Christmas I'll be getting myself more RAM, which should not break the bank.

Many thanks=) I am interested in, what system requirements you need for rendering.

Good for you. It is amazing how much GPUs have advanced. I have a 4 year old CAD workstation that I spent more on a high end video card than anything else. My son's (computer geek / gamer) has a new card that is 16 times as fast.

Certainly you may ask. AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 8-core processor with a GeForce RTX 2070 Super graphics card. The PC is primarily for gaming, but the same needs apply for digital rendering.
