[WiP] Chapter 8 part 1 Song - Under your skin
🕑 Added 2023-01-17 13:02:51 +0000 UTCHello,
Written by Voodoo Pup and composed (and sung as a place holder with a Palpatine/Joker's voice) by Michael Picher.
Note that the current demo vocal is in no way properly mixed with the instrumental. It's just there as a general reference.
It's the chapter's script, except for the first and last pages.
Lyrics (sung by Chrysalis):
VERSE 1
It’s been a cinch
In every role I’ve ever played
To know every inch
Plan every move and every day
What makes them tick?
Those little quirks and things they say
Just take a changeling, dress her up
And add a certain je ne sais
CHORUS 1
Like the guard who moonlights as a bard
Or the host engrossed in planning dinners
The struggling chef may be tone-deaf
But even she’s a half step nearer
To the model mare and her affair
With that natural charmer palace armorer
Each one helping me get in
To your life and under your skin
VERSE 2
You pony types
Don’t hold too much mystery
Your hearts and minds
Like open books of history
And those cutie marks?
A nice convenient summary.
So tell me princess, what’s the deal
What makes your mind so slippery?
CHORUS 2
I’ve pulled the strings to bring down kings
No one’s secret’s safe from me but
I can’t read you so I’ll need to
Find that sneaky little weakness
You’re kind and helpful and all that dreadful
Stuff you ponies like the most
But it bugs me knowing something
More is hidden under your skin
CADANCE
I’m only me
And nothing more
I’ve never hurt you, never met you
I don’t know what you’re looking for
CHRYSALIS
I guess your eyes must be hazy
Not only your memory
I’m a changeling queen, you see,
And we trade in identities
We feed on love and all its warmth
And all the world could never show me
A better meal to feed my swarm
Than the hearts of little ponies
CADANCE
Then why the need
To wear my face?
If it’s love you want and I’m its princess…
CHRYSALIS
Why didn’t I take your husband’s place?
Oh, you’re much too innocent
You’ve got one little problem
Shining Armor loves his princess
So much more than you love him
[Oh, you didn’t realize?
Some princess of love you are]
Maybe that’s it.
That’s just the thing that hinders me
You have no idea just who you are
As you sit there so pitifully
Well, no matter, I’ve climbed this ladder
And you’re not about to slow me down
If I can’t read you then I’ll need to
Find another way around
You’re a weak defenseless “pony pwincess”
Overthrown and all alone
So sit and watch your evil twin
Get nice and comfy under your skin
