[WiP] Chapter 11th song - I keep my smile
🕑 Added 2021-11-13 01:18:45 +0000 UTCHello there,
Written and composed by Voodoo Pup.
As you may hear, the song isn't finished at all. Heavely inspired from the latest G5 movie, it's a song made for chapter 11th. The lyrics may changed a bit but you can have the general idea of the "almost" whole chapter.
Indeed, the chapter's script, except for the first and last pages, is entirely the lyrics of this song.
AMBER [annoyingly chipper, almost operatic]
What a gorgeous dayyyy!
CRYSTAL PONIES [spoken]
"Ugh, it's Amber Dawn..."
"Who cares? The Crystal Princess Cadance is choosing an advisor!"
"Shh, don't let HER hear that!"
AMBER [spoken]
Eh, so what?
VERSE 1 & 2
AMBER
The world is moving, empire's glowing and the sun is up again
It's gonna take a lot of snow to keep this Dawn shut in
Nopony's throwing fruit at me today and things are looking brighter
Well they've got good taste at least, [spoken] how did they know I like papaya?
Just yesterday I saw a scarf at the boutique down the road
They wouldn't sell it to me, whatever, it doesn't match my coat
I pruned the trees by the sidewalk and I fixed up all the flowers
They turned the hose on me, [spoken] but hey, free shower!
PRE-CHORUS
I fixed their carriage and they were too happy to say thank you
I tried to help them paint the fence again, now my Amber's splashed in blue
When your boss enslaved the empire not everypony likes you
CHORUS
But I keep my smile!
I keep my smile!
Wide as a mile
and no matter what
I know I'll make it through
I'll keep my smile
I'll keep my smile
I'll never cry I'll
light that darkened sky
and let the Dawn shine through
[TRANSITION - INSTRUMENTAL, maybe dialogue of Cadance passing?]
VERSE 3 & 4
Hey mister vendor, have you got some crystal berries for me?
Just rotten ones again? Even better, that makes them soft and sweet!
[spoken] CUSTOMER: Excuse me, are there any crystal berries left? I need about three dozen for my niece's cuteceanera.
[spoken] VENDOR: Well, you're in luck. Just got a fresh shipment this morning!
[spoken] AMBER: Wow, that'll be a fun party!
I went for breakfast at the little cafe by the park
The chef threw me out - who cares! It's a nice day for a walk
I threw the ball back over the fence for the schoolponies today
Then they aimed right for me, now I get to be part of their dodgeball game!
PRE-CHORUS
I helped an old mare cross the street and I carried her bags too
She called me names I've never heard before but at least I learned something new
When you worked for an evil king ponies really don't like you ("Ya think?")
CHORUS
But I keep my smile!
I keep my smile!
It's just my style
and no matter what
You'll never make me blue
I'll keep my smile
I'll keep my smile
I'll never cry I'll
light that darkened sky
and let the Dawn shine through
BRIDGE
I took the trash out, mopped the floors, did the dishes
Even watered all the lawns
But if all these crystal ponies had their wishes
I think they'd rather have me gone
[spoken] I COULD use a break...
After all this work at least I live
In an empire that's clean
Everything I do is another way to give
The Crystal Heart its sheen
Now the air is getting colder, the sky is dark,
And my hooves are getting sore [spoken] Ouch...
[sung] Eh, so what! I'll be back tomorrow
To fix things up some more
CADANCE
All she ever does is her very best
And it's never good enough
For proving herself or for making progress.
Is there a way
to a second chance?
PRE-CHORUS
CADANCE (pre-chorus)
The way she cares for the empire in spite of what she's done...
How many rights will it take to fix all the things that she's done wrong?
BOTH
When you served beside the king of the shadows not everypony trusts you [<--- AMBER says boss, not king]
FINAL CHORUSES
But I keep my smile!
I keep my smile!
Wide as a mile
and no matter what
I know I'll make it through
I'll keep my smile
I'll keep my smile
I'll never cry I'll
light that darkened sky
and let the Dawn shine through
CADANCE (mid-chorus)
[spoken] She really DOES seem to care about this place. I mean, I know she was King Sombra's advisor but... who could be more fitting than somepony so dedicated?
AMBER
I keep my smile!
I keep my smile!
It's just my style
and no matter what
You'll never make me blue
I'll keep my smile
I'll keep my smile
I'll never cry I'll
light that darkened sky
and let the Dawnnnn shiiiiine- [AMBER is cut off]
CADANCE
[spoken]
Hey, wanna be my advisor?
AMBER
[spoken]
Wait, WHAT? You... know I worked for Sombra, right?
CADANCE
[spoken]
Yeah, I heard you, but like you say... Eh, so what!
[end on a sting]
