Idk if this was your explicit intention, but I like how this interaction portrayed the trend of weaponized therapy-speak that has become so prominent on social media. Like, Malcolm bringing up boundary-setting how he did, while clearly missing some key context, feels very similar to how have seen people deploying the vernacular of therapy online. It also feels like he’s using it to deflect from the fact that he’s clearly hurt that Lottie won’t be coming to meet his family
