Chapter 670 : Return of the Nightmare!

He was about to deactivate his chakra field when he suddenly sensed a chakra that he didn't recognize rushing rapidly into the base. He muttered, “What the hell? Who entered the base? And what's with this speed?”
He immediately got up while thinking, ‘Who is it? And how did that person enter the base without activating any of the seals? Wait! I can sense a couple more chakra signatures! They are heading towards the patrol camp! Shit, what's happening?’
By the time he came out of the room, Fujin had already reached the center of the base and slammed his right hand on the ground.
‘Fuin Battlefield!’
In the blink of an eye, the entire base was covered with seals and was sealed by the Fuin Battlefield. At the same time, a sword appeared in Fujin's left hand.
Dodai only saw a glimpse of Fujin's figure. Before he could take a better look, Fujin disappeared! Dodai thought, ‘Fast! I couldn't even see his fac…’
His thoughts froze as shock appeared on his face. The shock soon changed into horror as he sensed Fujin's chakra signature disappearing and appearing in a different place instantly repeatedly! Every time his chakra signature disappeared, the chakra signature of one Kumo ninja disappeared!
Dodai muttered in horror and disbelief, “Fl… Flyi… Flyin… Impossible! This is the Fourth Hokage's Flying Thunder God jutsu! Another ninja in Konoha learnt this accursed jutsu!’
Despite the shock, his brain quickly realized, ‘Konoha's target isn't Kumogakure! Their target is our bases!’
“Dodai… I didn't expect someone like you to be here…” Dodai heard a cold voice behind him. However, even before he could react, a sword entered his back, pierced through his heart and appeared in front of his chest. There was nothing he could do except watch the bloody sword in horror as his eye closed permanently.
Fujin stored his body properly before finishing off the remaining Kumo ninjas. After confirming that everyone was dead, Fujin created three Shadow Clones to collect their dead bodies and hide the evidence of a slaughter.
While they collected the bodies, he thought, ‘I didn't think Dodai would be in charge of one of the bases. Then again, it isn't too strange. He is very experienced and commands a lot of respect in Kumogakure. So, having him guide the youngsters is only natural.
In the future, he would have assisted Naruto's Shadow Clone in sealing the Third Raikage… However, I have already killed Kabuto. So, the Third Raikage shouldn't be revived. If he still does somehow, I'll just seal him by myself.
Anyway, there's no need to focus so much on the future. Dodai was someone who was close to the Third Raikage and he was also close to Ay and Bee. He might know some details about the Lightning Chakra Mode. Not to mention, he is also one of the few individuals who created a Kekkei Genkai without a bloodline… His memories should be very interesting.’
A smile appeared on Fujin's face. Though he didn't intend to target Dodai, it was a good surprise. However, more than Dodai, Fujin was happier about another thing.
He glanced at the dead bodies in the base and thought, ‘The Flying Thunder God jutsu… I have used it effectively in combat for the first time. Even though I'm not used to using this jutsu, this technique is just as fearsome as I remember. Anyone under the rank S level can't last even a few seconds against me. It's little wonder why Minato was so feared.
While I'm not as accustomed to using the Flying Thunder God jutsu as Minato and Tobirama and my proficiency in this jutsu is definitely far lesser than either of them, I might exceed them in terms of lethality. After all…’
Fujin chuckled and looked across the Fuin Battlefield. Along with the other seals that made Fuinjutsu what it was, there were also a couple thousand Flying Thunder God marks in it!
Minato had to throw his special kunais marked with Flying Thunder God marks in order to create points for him to teleport to. However, Fujin did not need to do something like that thanks to his Fuin Battlefield.
If a comparison was to be made, it could be said that the Fuin Battlefield was equivalent to Minato throwing two thousand special kunais on the battlefield in an instant! How dangerous that would be was rather obvious. Not to mention, the Fuin Battlefield had a lot more methods that Fujin used for various purposes.
So, despite his relative inexperience in using the Flying Thunder God jutsu in battle, the combination of Fuin Battlefield and Flying Thunder God jutsu was extremely terrifying.
Fujin thought, ‘As for my proficiency, that would be a bit difficult to improve. Flying Thunder God jutsu was the staple of Minato's combat. He used it for years against all sorts of opponents. On the other hand, my preferred attack method is Wind Release. And, with my current strength, only top-tier rank S ninjas could provide me with a challenge if I used the Flying Thunder God jutsu. It's not something I can do often…’
Fujin sighed and muttered to himself, ‘I guess I'll have my clones fight each other to get a hang of it. Another option is hunting down Obito with my Akura identity and using this jutsu. He's probably the perfect sparring partner to practice the Flying Thunder God jutsu… I wonder if he'd be kind enough to go a few rounds against me… Or perhaps I should revive Tobirama or the Third Raikage for some practice after I get my hands on the Edo Tensei jutsu.’
Fujin's three Shadow Clones returned and handed him the scrolls. Fujin stored them, looked at each of his clones and said, “You go towards the 7th base, you towards the 9th and you towards the 10th.”
The Shadow Clones nodded and dispersed. Fujin had already formed a plan before making the clones. So they knew their tasks. As the clones moved towards the respective bases, they left Flying Thunder God marks along the way so that Fujin could easily teleport towards their locations.
Fujin thought, ‘The easiest way to travel here would be flying on Kaito's back. However, I won't be able to mark the Land of Lightning if I do that... Right now, I have only marked the Land of Fire and the Land of Rivers properly. I have left a few marks in the Lands of Hot Water, Frost and Grass. I'll use this opportunity to properly mark the Land of Lightning so that I won't have to do it again in the future...
Anyway, it's a good thing that Fuin Battlefield and Flying Thunder God jutsu barely use any chakra. Only if I try to teleport a jutsu does the chakra consumption increase. So, I didn't lose much chakra while clearing this base. In fact, I lost more chakra in creating those Shadow Clones than in the battle.
Regardless, I should be back to full in around 5 hours. Then I'll just teleport to their locations and continue forward.’
With such thoughts, Fujin disappeared. He teleported a few times and returned to the base in the Land of Frost. Five of his Shadow Clones were already reading the memories of the dead Jounins. Fujin waited for them to be done reading the memories of the heads in front of them before dispelling them one by one.
Fujin collated and analyzed every clone's memories and thought, ‘As expected, they didn't know much about the Lightning Chakra Mode. However, they did know a few interesting things. Oh well, let me see what Dodai knows…’
Fujin began reading Dodai's memories. While he did, Mabui felt uneasy. Yugito looked at her and asked, “Is everything alright? You've been uneasy for some time now.”
Darui became serious and asked, “Is there an issue?”
Samui and C looked at her as well.
Mabui explained, “After receiving Raikage-sama's message, I sent messenger birds to all our outer bases to prepare themselves. However, only 7 bases contacted me back using the Chakra Transmission Communication devices.
I dispatched an Anbu squad to each of the three bases that didn't respond. They should have reached there by now and contacted us. However, I still haven't heard anything from them.”
Everyone in the Raikage's office became serious on hearing her words. C muttered, “That's strange. Understanding the seriousness of the situation, they should have responded right away. For them to not reply, means that something has happened there.”
Darui's eyes widened. His expression became grim as he said, “Quickly show me the bases that didn't respond.”
Everyone noticed his expression. Mabui didn't delay and showed him the map. With an ugly expression, he said, “Boss’ assumption was incorrect. Konoha wouldn't attack our village directly. It would be a declaration of war and from my understanding of the Third Hokage, he would never want an all-out war.
Instead, he likes to use schemes and hurt us in the dark. Their real target must be our outer bases! Most likely these 5 that are closer to the border! Shit!”
The expression of the remaining 4 ninjas also became ugly. The memories of the wounds Jiraiya inflicted upon them were still fresh in their minds. They didn't want to see Kumogakure suffer a similar loss again!

Awesome, the combo of the Battlefield and FTG is some truly big brain stuff. And, I am kinda sad that Dodai got killed, because he seemed like a cool guy, but you got to take advantage of the situation presented. And I would love to see the 2nd Hokage's reaction to being Edo Summoned just to be used to practice with someone.

Haven't finalized it yet. There might be some, but don't expect much. I'm not sure I'd be able to write any good romance and Fujin's character makes it even more difficult to write one 🥲

i hope so, itd be great development for fujin when he encounters his true, cowardly and lonely self. he's so fixated on surviving that he hasnt truly enjoyed this world and the people in it, and he refuses to get close to people before the 4th great war because he doesnt wanna break like kakashi.

Am I missing something? What about the 8th base? He has clones going to the 7th, 9th, and 10th base. His main body went back to his cave so it leaves that last one up in the air? I would say that maybe he is leaving a single base alive but he is to shameless to allow that 😏.

That’s my theory as well. Also the fact that Scorch Release is basically just hot wind/air, so Wind Release would be the main component en Fire Release the secondary one.

Curious to see if he'll be able to create lava release since both of the elements involved aren't his main one. Was Fujin's fire proficiency ever elaborated on? I'm pretty sure his fire isnt nearly as good as his wind yet he's able to create scorch release regardless.. i've assumed from this point that his wind talent is doing the heavy lifting and he has just enough talent in fire to make it work.

Fujin has wind, lightning, earth and fire natures along with yin and yang. Wondering what he can achieve with them after combining. Like the ten tails cataclysmic shock saw during the war. Atleast to me that was like a natural calamity

I feel like Fujin will at least finish Scorch Release first, since he almost has it completed. As forst Lava Release, that would be interesting, especially because of all the differences between Lava Release users. I wonder if Fujin would obtain Dodai’s version, the vulcanized rubber, another of the already existing ones or his own unique version. I also wonder why there are so many differences and why users (mostly) can’t use other versions.

There’s also the fact that he didn’t revive out of nowhere or revive himself, but he got revived. “Not to mention, he is also one of the few individuals who created a Kekkei Genkai without a bloodline…” That’s a nice detail. That wasn’t in the original story, right? “a couple of thousand Flying Thunder God marks” couple thousand* just sounds better imo, don’t know if the sentence is technically wrong. “using the Flying Thunder God jutsu to battle” in battle* / to fight* “Or perhaps I should revive Tobirama or the Third Raikage for some practice after I get my hands on the Edo Tensei jutsu.” I can’t wait until he finally gets his hands on Edo Tensei and summons Tobirama, I’m sure that he had many more jutsus that we don’t even know of or ones which he could never finish or accomplish. “Anyway, it's a good thing that Fuin Battlefield and Flying Thunder God jutsu barely use any chakra.” Yet another reason why it’s such an OP Jutsu. My unadulterated notes for this chapter, I think I went a bit too far 😅 And yes, I always make notes when I read a chapter, for any novel I read. Okay a few things I had in mind after finishing the chapter. 1 since Dodai created lava realese without a bloodline and fujin has a good affinity for both fire and earth so he should 100% get lava realese or else I feel like u will be nerfing him and 2. Dodai was an advisor and close to the last 2 raikage so even if he doesn't know the whole lighting Chakra mode I feel like he should know at least 80-85% of it as well as a plethora of kumos jutsu in general, just my thoughts😋

Clones need energy to maintain themselves as well... So, not sure if that'd be possible (though could be doable on a small scale with soldier pills or the help of a Tailed Beast).

kumo about to be as strong as sunagakure after this, iwagakure won't even move a muscle and Kirigakure is preoccupied with themselves. fujin indirectly ruined akatsuki plan of the great 5 fighting each other so they can swoop in and kidnap the jinchuriki

Would it be possible with Fujins control of wind chakra to create wind clones, refill own chakra and then fill existing wind clones with more chakra until every clone has the full chakra of Fujin…?

Oh man, you’ve done a great job of building the horror that is Fujin. Just need to find a way to connect his feats with him or have him display it publicly during konoha crush. All nations labeling him as a flee on sight would be pretty great 😂
