Chapter 692 : Kumogakure's Massive Attack!

Everyone followed her words and continued moving forward. As the clones rushed forward, they met the first obstacle. The path in front of them was blocked by a barrier. Before even a word could escape their mouths, all of them were engulfed by a massive Lightning flood! It didn't matter who was in the way, whether it was a clone or a real ninja, no one stood a chance. In the blink of an eye, the entire building was cleared up!
Thousands of clones were still waiting outside the building when they saw the blue light as well. Due to the seals on the battlefield, no one outside could sense the massive jutsu. The Lightning flooded out and engulfed all the clones waiting there. All of them, including the clones who had rushed out to pass the message, were dispelled before the Lightning continued moving forward and hit the barrier raised by the Kumo ninjas.
A horrified expression appeared on the face of every Kumogakure ninja as they could finally sense the horrifying jutsu. Hundreds of ninjas gulped nervously while several others dropped their weapons. The Lightning continued bombarding the barrier for a few seconds before dispersing.
In the Raikage's office, a helpless smile appeared on Fujin's face. He thought, ‘I underestimated Kumogakure… Oh well, I should have anticipated this. After all, these are the same guys who made Hiruzen buckle…’
The light around the vajra-shaped hilt in his right hand finally faded away. Fujin thought, ‘There were only 16 ninjas among them. Everyone else was a clone. The losses are far less than I anticipated… Oh well, it doesn't matter.

One of the council members replied, “It is already catastrophic. What do we do now? Sending any more ninjas inside is suicidal. Not to mention, if we irk him and he reverse summons into the village, then such jutsus can kill thousands of people!”
Everyone looked at Inazuma, who looked to be deep in thought. As the one who gave the order, Inazuma was directly responsible for the deaths of 16 Jounins. They wanted to hear from him, but he didn't say a word and looked lost in his thoughts. The council member called out, “Elder Inazuma?”

Yeah, I remember that that was part of the contract. I always thought that the Hawks were Sasuke’s summons that he found himself and that he got a contract with the Snakes through Orochimaru, much like how Naruto formed a contract with the Toads through Jiraiya. Fujin could also always form a contract with a normal animal without needing to teleport. I do hope that one of his new summons becomes one of those Tailed Beast level sea creatures, but I don’t know if that would be possible yet.

Chakra... The Susanoo can match a Tailed Beast with ease. How many other ninjas have that much amount of chakra? My headcannon is that Mangekyou lowers the chakra required to create something like Susanoo by a considerable margin. Either that, or it increases the users chakra reserves by several levels when they unlock it. After advancing it to Eternal Mangekyou, they get another such boost, allowing them to keep sustaining Susanoo for a long time. In addition, it also helps mold chakra in a way that makes it easier to create and sustain the Susanoo.

I believe Itachi and Madara both used Susano without their eyes. I.e., once they learnt how to do it via the eyes they later learned how to do it without. Perhaps the eyes just make it far easier by managing the chakra control for you?

Nah, this much is enough. I can’t wait to see the Raikage’s face when he comes 😂 I also love that Fujin kept the Devil’s Playground active so that they need to figure out how it works and dismantle it themselves. Even if they do figure out how it works, they think that it was installed prior to this and only now activated, so that is the only way how they would use it themselves.

I think it’s a matter of chakra molding. Not only do you need a huge amount of chakra to support a visible and dense construct like that, the insane shape change required is nonsensical and basically impossible without having a sharingan or having done it before.

kumo is more than crippled, they just lost more than 800 ninjas, that's war time numbers as iwa lost 1000 in the third shinobi war. and they only started getting active after naruto was born so we are talking about a decades worth of replenishing soldiers that will be needed
