(BUS)Chapter 148: Meanwhile

"Angel, What's the status on the Eridium surveys?" A certain man asked as he leaned back in his chair.
"Thirty percent complete with the initial infrastructure for mining four deposits in the process of being completed." Angel said simply.
"And my acquisition of the stocks using that?" he asked despite already knowing the answer.
"A five percent gain in total stake in the company with an estimated seven percent cap off." Angel said.
"I am NEVER going to get tired of hearing that! Now I just need to wait for my position to solidify before making a move on that possible vault we discovered from our scans of Elpis. What about Alex, any interesting news on that front?" he asked with a smile.
"There is news but I am unable to verify the authenticity of it. According to the chatter between him and the group of more normal vault hunters he has apparently become a god as well was gained bulletproof skin." Angel said clearly not believing the information.
The man froze "I'm sorry for a second there I thought I heard you say he became a god." he said clearly trying to think he misheard.
"That is indeed what I said though the chatter makes it seem as though his godhood is incomplete without the remaining three siren traits." Angel said honestly.
"How!? No wait I know that one already, WHEN!?" the man demanded with a bit of panic.
"According to the chatter, when he integrated the siren Lilith's trait. Being in possession of more than half of the total siren traits caused them to fuse into the god trait. Supposedly titled "Phase-god"." Angel said with a hint of awe.
The man leaned forward with a deep frown "List the known abilities he has again." he commanded.
"Phase-lock, Phase-evolve, Phase-walk, Phase-trance. All known elemental energies as well as another dubbed "destruction". Matter to energy conversion, Bulletproof skin, Superhuman speed, strength, endurance, immune system, senses. Extremely high intelligence, ingenuity and creative talent. Additionally possesses a theoretically infinite lifespan." Angel said with her voice becoming more and more terrified as she went.
The man shared that same terror "He's on our side right!? Please tell me we haven't offended him at all!?" he demanded seriously on the verge of hyperventilating.
"He is favorably predisposed towards us at the moment." Angel said though not sounding very reassured about that at all.
"Oh thank god! Is there any way we could stack that favor even further?" the man asked relieved a little.
"There is but you won't like it." Angel said honestly.
The man looked confused for a moment before grimacing as he understood what she meant.
"You're right, I don't like it. Ha~ Any other ideas?" he asked with a sigh.
"Unless we can discover the whereabouts of the remaining two sirens or a vault we are willing to gift him, no." Angel said helplessly.
(3rd person POV Promethea)
Promethea, the foundation of Vault hunting and home planet of the Atlas corporation. This planet with it's near legendary past was but a shell of the glory it once held. Slums covered the planet that had been built with efficiency and wealth in mind once. The people of the planet not in the one percent barely pulled together a decent wage under the oppressive taxes of the Atlas corporation if even that. The waters were tainted and the air had smog from the great many factories on the planet. In the shadows of the Headquarters of the Atlas company, gaudy oppressive building it is, a single assassin waited for her moment to strike.-
Athena stood camouflaged in the armor of the now defunct crimson assassin on this day after weeks of waiting and planning. She had memorized patrol routes, long undermaintained paths and stolen passwords to get her all the way to the top of this tower where her target sat thinking himself safe. She was merely the first of the sharks to strike the lame giant after Knoxx's death left it weak. Atlas was going to die but not in a blaze of glory like it's masters thought would be necessary. Instead it would whimper and whine all the way to the grave.-
'Until he gets a hold of it at least.' Athena thought to herself almost looking forward to that future.
With an insulting amount of ease she slipped past the lazy guards and into her chosen path. A single hallway that was long since forgotten about that flanked the entire buildings length. she ignored the dust as she strolled without interruption to the end where she checked the time before waiting for the patrol to leave the area. When the time was right she opened the door and walked right into the elevator leading straight to the CEO's office.-
Using the stolen password from the fat man's secretary the elevator rose without any delay bearing her to her destination. When the elevator opened she saw the fat bastard leaning back behind his desk with his eyes closed and a lewd expression while a brunette head of hair bobbed between his legs. Athena nearly gagged at the sight but drew out her blade and walked right up to the desk before decapitating the man in a single slash. -
"For my sister." she said before turning and walking calmly back to the elevator as the woman in the office screamed as blood covered her.
Alarms rang out throughout the building as security got in a hurry to the office. All the while Athena strolled right out the buildings front entrance and made her way to the transport set to leave in five minutes. As security reviewed the tapes the other board members were left shaking in anger and terror at the casual ease by which the CEO was murdered and the murderer escaping. Heads rolled as the security forces were executed for this and the board members turned their greedy eyes on the now vacant seat.-
What followed could be likened to dominoes toppling as they turned on each other and investors and stockholders withdrew from the company in a hurry to grab whatever value they could in this window before the company fully imploded. From the outside everything went from status quo to pure chaos in exactly no time at all. Montgomery Jakobs through the spies within the company learnt of this fall from grace the moment it happened and started the process of quietly moving Jakobs into position to claim the leftovers.-
The other corporations weren't blind to this either and went to work like vultures picking out the tastiest morsels from the body before it could begin to rot. Resource planets, production outposts, liquid wealth all snatched as the waters grew bloodier and bloodier. Within three galactic standard time days Atlas was left barely functioning as most of it's board members had either grabbed their loot and split or died in the infighting. The companies future fell on the middle management who also suffered infighting and looting before eventually multiple bankruptcies were filed to try and hold off the doom but buying only a year at most in grace.
