Chapter 91 [Imperial Spear Art; Divine Spear Extinction]

Effect (Mortal): Chant, gathering chaotic spear natured spiritual energy within the weapon in one’s hand. After accumulating a certain amount of spear natured spiritual energy, slash or thrust towards your target. An enormous pseudo-spiritual construct of the weapon in your hand will manifest in front of oneself, replicating the attack, penetrating through spiritual shields or piercing through other pseudo-spiritual constructs.
Enemies struck with [Imperial Spear Art; Divine Spear Extinction] are inflicted with an instance of [Extinction Spear Curse].
[Extinction Spear Curse]: Prevents the usage of one random ability. This effect cannot be resisted. This effect cannot be cleansed.
Jon grinned seeing his [Imperial Spear Art; Divine Spear Extinction] shatter Carnis Ascia; Hatchet Of Rotten Flesh. The howling screams of the Malum Hobgoblin echoed throughout the riverbank, feeling the backlash of having his manifested ability broken without his consent.
Jon had never experienced Assail broken, whether through his own effects or the efforts of others during the time he had integrated his Fragment Of Weapon. Although Ashvattha Rana had told him that the connection between oneself and their summoned weapons was more intricate than he could ever imagine, Jon did not think that it would provoke such a dramatic reaction.
The Knight Ranked hobgoblin clutched at his chest, while lifting its head and snarling hatefully towards Jon. The Fragment Of Weapon and Fragment Of Flesh within its Blood Mana Core dimmed a considerable degree, blood natured spiritual energy unable to properly flow into the fragments which birthed its summoned weapon.
Jon, through his Minerva-Sagacity Eyes was able to discern the name of the Fragment Of Weapon, hoping to find something that would better him help counter the hobgoblin. His brows furrowed for a second glaring at the description in front of him, before widening, seeing the slight differences between his two summoned weapons and the Knight Ranked ability of the Malum Hobgoblin.

Beneath the name and listed traits of the Fragment Of Weapon, was an additional line with one single word attached to it. Although Jon was now looking at the broken fragments of Carnis Ascia scattered amidst the sands, he could not help but feel his gaze linger on additional line of text that the Knight Ranked ability possessed.
Although he was not completely certain, Jon was now quite sure of the differences between Mortal Ranked abilities and Knight Ranked abilities.
‘After becoming a Knight, individuals can integrate additional fragments into each of their abilities! That is how it can inflict so many debuffs with each Spell or attack!’ Jon felt an imaginary veil lift itself off his eyes, allowing him to see the truths right in front of him.
That single Spell that pierced through his shoulder inflicted four different debuffs and afflictions. Even his newest ability, [Wrath Is The Paradise Whispered On Thou Lips] gave Jon three different effects, the last one [Virtuous Red Sin], inflicted himself with his own spear natured damage over time effect.
Knight Ranked abilities did not just possess the fragment that manifested said ability, but rather, an additional one that potentially added numerous other effects to it. The added effects influenced through whatever new fragment was integrated into the original ability!
‘This changes everything!’ Jon thought to himself.
The combinations were almost boundless! Each of his abilities would be able to grow in ways that suited his specific needs or wanton desires! He would be able to add effects to [Green Is The Flesh, As Red Is The Blood] to increase his Wood Mana Cores capacity for spiritual energy, or even transform it into a passive effect, healing him without the need for spiritual energy!
[Rhapsody Of The Cold Star] might be able to grant Jon a form of spatial displacement if he integrated a Fragment Of Space or Fragment Of Teleportation into it! [Requiem Of The White Star] might be able to generate some sort of spiritual shield effect around Jon through the use of a Fragment Of Shield or Fragment Of Protection!
His Hades-Sagacity Shadow would no longer be limited to a thirty-food radius through the integration of a Fragment Of Boundless! Or have its effects weakened outside a source of natural light with a Fragment Of Resistance! Or even allow it to manifest itself physically, creating more of an offensive ability through a Fragment Of Incarnation!
Jon felt his mouth drop even further, imagining the possibilities. The eighteen-year-old almost found himself distracted, his grip over his Sea Of Knowledge slipping for a moment, before pushing down all thoughts related to such topics.
Furrowing his brows, Jon suppressed the urge to slap himself.
‘What the hell are you doing Jon! Getting distracted in the middle of a fight! I need whatever shreds of focus I can get my hands on right now!’
Jon took a deep breath, ignoring the bubbling thoughts of his future development within his Sea Of Knowledge. Even possibilities related to the fragments he thought he should integrate into [Mine Is The Sea Of Knowledge] were pushed down, further into the depths of his mental construct.
Focusing his attention back onto the Malum Hobgoblin, Jon started chanting another one of his Spells.
“I proclaim this battle to warrant the blood-red sin of wrath! The painful chains of virtue shall restrain thine desires no longer! I prostate myself before the heretical altar adorned with blood and skulls. The blasphemous pleasure of war shall become a paradise for the sinful and the decadent!”
Instantaneously, Jon felt his Seir-Glacial Heart pump faster and with much greater ferocity behind it. [Wrath Is The Paradise Whispered On Thou Lips], born from a Fragment Of Ira, churned with spear natured spiritual energy, flooding Jon with an incredible amount of rage and anger.
The three effects of the Fragment Of Ira manifested themselves in the corner of Jon’s vision.
[Decadent Spear Blessing]: While active, thrusts and slashes made with spears will produce additional instances of damage. Pseudo-spiritual spear constructs will manifest parallel with each attack, each dealing a specified fraction of the original damage.
[Ira Benedicite]: Increases resistances towards virtue related damages, afflictions, and debuffs. Increases resistances towards light related damages, afflictions, and debuffs. Increases resistances towards spirit related damages, afflictions, and debuffs.
[Virtuous Red Sin]: Inflicts a continuous spear-damage over time effect. Spear natured spiritual energy takes the form of a wrathful illusion which warps the mind and spirit, filling the target with an immense hatred. Additional stacks have an additive effect.
Both Luin and Assail gained a pale crimson tint to them. The effects of [Decadent Spear Blessing] causing the tips of each spear to quiver with spear natured spiritual energy, allowing the two summoned weapons to produce manifold spear strikes.
Although Jon was unable to use Archetype Green to transfer [Virtuous Red Sin] away from himself, he was able to use the effects of [Mine Is The Sea Of Knowledge] to suppress the spear natured spiritual energy within from warping his mind.
[Thou Art The Monarch Of Spears And Truth] was capable of doing in the same for Jon’s spirit, the Longinus-Lancea Spirit within him slashing through the debilitating effects of [Virtuous Red Sin].
On top of this, Jon activated another Spell.
“Clad in robes crimson, harkening thou pitiful extinction. Sing thou of the coming of blood and war, proclaiming the sounds of trumpets that announce mine arrival.”
[Cometh Thy Red Horse Awaits] enhanced his physical capabilities even further, working in tandem with both his Seir-Glacial Heart and Murmur-Glacial Marrow. The last time Jon used all three abilities at the same time was during his fight with Han Of The Red Wind, causing a physical change in the human’s appearance.
Avahni and Sariel, Wilheim and Shamael all watched as Jon’s veins gained a pale-white tint to them. Overloading both [Lamentations Of A Frozen Affection] and [Ours Is The Blood That Births Winter And Ice] flooded his physical form with ice natured spiritual energy, even causing his long brown hair to turn pale white, the same colour as freshly fallen snow.
On top of this, Jon entered [Le Mat Avancement], shrouding himself in a dark red haze of war natured spiritual energy. Although it did not further strengthen Jon’s physical capabilities, the Technique did strengthen something else.
[Le Mat Avancement]: Increases the effectiveness of all abilities with the Technique Trait.
With his gaze firmly placed on the Malum Hobgoblin, Jon leaned forward and exploded towards the ashen-skinned beast. With so many different physical enhancements activated all at once, Jon’s figure was extraordinarily fast, even amongst Mortal standards.
His movements were sharp and indecipherable, the muscles in his calves and thighs condensed and stretched to their utmost, propelling the eighteen-year-old across the riverbank with a speed that had transcended human limitations.
Neither Avahni nor Sariel saw Jon move, seeing nothing but deep imprints left on the sands where he once stood. Sariel thought that she had caught glimpses on Jon’s shadow, but blinked and noticed that he had moved, circling around the enormous form of the Knight Ranked beast.
Xochitl struggled to muster its roots and tendrils, being afflicted with over a hundred different debuffs and afflictions at this point. Although the Mortal Ranked green ocean mangrove was an extraordinary lifeform possessing an abundance of lifeforce and methods of devouring it, at the end of the day it was limited through the amount of spiritual energy Avahni could feed it.
The green-haired lutin recalled the Voracious Wood-Swallowing Mangrove, lifting her hands and gesturing towards where Ru Luan Di had raised its limb and pointed towards.
“Right there Avahni! Use your ability on Jon now!” shouted the little ginseng king.
Avahni nodded, watching as her extended hand manifested a minute, orange-coloured flame in the centre of it.
“Through me, the scorching cinders of life will one day stretch beyond the horizon. With me, the burning embers of destruction will raze those that dare oppose thou name. In me, the ashen spirit of creation shall harken forth a world free of fear and horror!”

[Thou Art The Monarch Of Ash And Life]
(Fire, Spirit, Mutation, Spell, Enhancement, Buff)
Effect (Mortal): Transform the mortal natures of one’s spirit into that of a Dumah-Cinder Spirit. Dramatically increases maximum mana and mana regeneration. Dramatically increases resistances towards spirit-related damages, afflictions, and debuffs.
Chant, then suffuse your spirit with the fiery baptism of life born through ash and fire. Manifest an ashen triangular corona above the head of a willing target, capable of regenerating an amount of spiritual energy, equal to one tenth the maximum amount within your Fire Mana Core. Grants an instance of [Baptism Of Fire].
[Baptism Of Fire]: Manifests an impenetrable spiritual shield of fire natured spiritual energy. [Baptism Of Fire] will withstand a single blow before shattering.
Jon felt himself bathed in a familiar fire natured spiritual energy. The eighteen-year-old did not reject the effects of [Thou Art The Monarch Of Ash And Life], letting the fiery baptism bath his Mana Cores in an incredible amount of spiritual energy. Each of his five Mana Cores regenerated two percent of Avahni’s maximum fire natured spiritual energy, although for his War Mana Core and Wood Mana Core, the effect was more pronounced.
The human continued to stare at his Knight Ranked opponent, watching at it turned with each abrupt movement he made, keeping up with his tremendous movement speed. Jon narrowed his eyes, before taking a deep breath and muttering once again another Spell chant.
“Bloom wonderous flowers; thulian rain shall pierce through the azure firmament. Wilt phantasmal petals; orchid hopes shall thrust through the false dream!”
Jon slashed Luin through the space in front of him, carving a tremendous neon-pink streak of light through the air. The Thulian Spellspear hummed with a violent spear natured spiritual energy, as Jon continued to slash through the air with his Fragment Of Weapon, the space around him filled with over a dozen bright neon-pink cuts.
Jon knew that it took seven seconds for each instance of the Spell to activate, the human moving off to the side timing himself before sprinting towards the Malum Hobgoblin, his Minerva-Sagacity Eyes and [Monstrous Intuition] both pushed even further, as Jon burst forward towards his target.
Adorned in a burning triangular corona, and shrouded within a thick dark-red haze, Jon appeared akin to wrathful god of war. The effects of [Wrath Is The Paradise Whispered On Thou Lips] and [Cometh Thy Red Horse Awaits] dyeing his form beneath the haze with a faint, but obvious crimson red aura.
Jon continued to overload his Spear Of Verdant Cedar as he approached the Malum Hobgoblin. The eighteen-year-old noticed himself become afflicted with an instance of [Yellow Lung Corruption] and [Broken Flesh Corruption] but ignored it, allowing Archetype Green to transfer the buffs away from him.
Ru Luan Di’s fire natured spiritual energy continued to surge within him as well, counteracting the damaging effects of the debuffs before they could take root within him.
Jon gritted his teeth and thrust Assail forward, timing his strike with the activation of the Spell contained within Luin.
In an instant, over a dozen neon-pink slashes transformed into several dozen lance-shaped spiritual constructs, each launching forward towards the enormous figure of the beast in front of them. The lances streaked through the air at speeds double that of an arrow in flight.
Just as Jon felt the tip of Assail come into contact with the flesh of the Malum Hobgoblin, his [Monstrous Intuition] twitched, as an unfathomable amount of fear natured spiritual energy spilled out of the Knight Ranked beast.

Yeah, I mean although I haven't written it yet an individual (like Jon for example) can integrate a Fragment Of Incarnation at Knighthood despite having integrated one as a Mortal. It helps with changing the effects of certain abilities instead of just adding minor changes such as another minor buff or debuff.

Does unique fragments reset after ranking up into like knight or baron? Because Jon already integrated an incarnation, right? So unless it resets, he can’t integrate another one. Meanwhile, I assume certain summons have opinions on what’s integrated into them. Avahni will likely be considerate, but Jon will probably follow his source instincts more. At least, unless there isn’t a good reason.
