Chapter 137 Knighthood!
🕑 Added 2025-09-08 11:00:17 +0000 UTCJon stood there, motionlessly, amidst a never-ending Sea Of Knowledge. The boundless expanse of his imaginary mental construct stretched in every direction around him, containing within it memories, feelings, experiences and wisps of spiritual energy.
His Minerva-Sagacity Eyes continued to observe the growing flow of spiritual energy throughout his Fragment Of Mind. What was once a slow trickle of mana had become a raging torrent flowing into him without cessation.
Ambient spiritual energy was integrated into each of his Mana Cores, expanding their size and the amount of mana each one of them could hold.
The images of his six Mana Cores expanded without his consent, as if each of them had gained a fraction of sentience. Their ten-centimetre long root that stretched out one end juxtaposed the single twig and leaf that sprouted from out the other. With each passing moment his Mana Cores grew millimetre-by-millimetre, although the scale of their transformations remained the same.
In many respects, it was similar to the process of integrating the concepts contained within Title Fragments into his Source although done so with atmospheric spiritual energy rather than Title Fragments.
The process was done automatically as if his Mana Cores were designed to handle this elevation of their inherent limitations. The ascension of his physical, mental, and spiritual limitations had unlocked something within them, something that had been hiding all this time.
‘Are all Mana Cores just waiting for ascension before growing and unlocking more of their limitations? Is a Mana Core capable of growing and expanding even without having someone ascend from Mortality to Knighthood, or Knighthood to Lordship?’
Jon felt his eyes widen.
‘Does that not presuppose the idea that Mana Cores are created mostly “locked” in a sense? That an uninitiated mortal could not withstand a Knight Ranked Mana Core, nor could a Mortal withstand the power of a Lord Ranked Mana Core?’
That was not the only change that he could feel either.
Subtle changes in certain abilities could be felt even without Jon needing to activate them. His Sea Of Knowledge expanded even further beyond the horizon, under the nurturing abundance of spiritual energy flowing into his Knowledge Mana Core.
The presence of his Fragment Of Shadow grew stronger as well, as did his Fragment Of Eyes.
His Hades-Sagacity Shadow growing deeper and darker, containing within it several concepts related to “shadows,” “reflections,” “knowledge,” and the “self.”
His Minerva-Sagacity Eyes dying his green-irises an even deeper shade of gold. Imbuing them with concepts related to “eyes,” “sight,” “perception,” and “knowledge.”
In fact… each one of his mutations seemed to grow even stronger. Their connection within him even deeper than the ones he felt with Schwarz Eis, Ashvattha Rana, and his newest summoned companion, the Threaded-Princeps Of Terminus Est.
His Yaochi-Jade Prana almost bursting at the seams, expanding to grow with the elevation of his Rank. Concepts such as “lifeforce,” “wood,” “recovery,” and “growth” growing stronger with each passing moment.
The sound of his Seir-Glacial Heart soft beating within his chest could be heard from all corners of his mental construct. Notions of “ice,” “winter,” “mana,” and “cold” imbuing themselves further into his physical body.
The soft humming of his Murmur-Glacial Marrow mimicking his heart. The winterish-white blood that it produced containing concepts related to “ice,” “glaciers,” “blood,” and “bone.”
In the distance, Jon could see his Source almost sing in response to his ascension.
Princeps Of The Wandering Mutation and Polemarche Of Jade Warfare seemed to watch faithfully over his ascension to Knighthood, the former growing alongside him while the latter, still contained with Lethe awaited its own ascension beyond Mortality.
That impossible black-white hole construct which mutated and transformed everything within its vicinity seemed to relish in this experience. The addition of his War Mana Core and Weave Mana Core created even more strange and unusual existences when combined with his other four Mana Cores.
Trees made from threads, shaped into spears, placed in books beyond number.
Words carved from glaciers, wrought war against knowledge.
Spears transformed into words, which pierced through war and ice.
Strings of green-leaves scattered amidst winter and battle.
The presence of his three other mutations glistening like stars across the void. Like a single teardrop on a blank canvas, just waiting to be shaped into something beautiful.
His Longinus-Lancea Spirit blooming like a flower amidst the height of spring. Concepts relating to “spears,” “truth,” “spirit,” and “battle” piercing through his preexisting thoughts.
But not before his Helel-Testament Pride rose over the distant horizon. The morning star, containing within it notions and conceptions of “pride,” “spears,” “light,” and “virtue.”
And in the corner of his vision, in the dull gloom cast by the intersection of his Fragment Of Mind and Fragment Of Shadow was his Hastor-Yellow Horrors. The horrifying reflection of himself, birthed from concepted relating to “horror,” “fear,” “memories,” and the “self.”
Each one of them grew stronger. More effective
Better connected.
‘These concepts are no longer just an “addition” that I acquired as a Mortal. But rather an intrinsic part of myself, forming the basis for even more ascensions and more transformations as I progress further and further towards Thronehood.’
Jon took a deep breath, lifting his head back and closing his eyes. Allowing himself to join the stream of spiritual energy that flowed into his Mana Cores. The process of becoming a Knight was more of an “unlocking” rather than an actual “ascension.”
It awakened what already existed within them, seeing that Jon had obtained the requirements to sustain such a power.
Although it did cause one thought to bubble up from the depths of his Sea Of Knowledge.
One minuscule thought about the existence of the System and its relationship with Wonders, Fragments, Mana Cores, Title Fragments and even Memento Source Items.
‘Is this what the System is capable of? Or rather, the will of whoever created it?’
His eyes slowly flickered open, fluttering as he was born anew.

Jon opened his eyes, noticing the waves upon waves of System notifications almost completely blocking out his vision. His golden-green eyes shone with a gleam that transcended mortal qualities, possessing a grace and honour befitting that of someone who had shed their mortal coil.
Increasing Rank and Tier from that of a Sixth Initiated Mortal to a Veinless Knight!
Increasing all base physical capabilities.
Increasing all base mental capabilities.
Increasing all base spiritual capabilities.
Increasing inherent lifeforce and natural longevity.
Increasing maximum spiritual energy capacity.
Increasing rate of spiritual energy regeneration.

The first breath that he took, felt different to all the breaths that he remembered taking before this moment. The feeling of his chest filled expanding with air, alongside the subtle scent of unwashed clothes, sweat, grime, and almost a dozen other unpleasant smells.
The sound of water lapping, from over two dozen metres away seemed to boom within his head, causing Jon to frown as he clutched his head painfully. The sensation of hair against his fingers almost seemed otherworldly, being able to count the exact number of strands touching each one of his fingers.
Each one of his senses, even without having to channel spiritual energy into his Fragment Of Instinct, seemed to have had their effectiveness increased alongside his base characteristics.
The expansion of his mental faculties.
The evolution of his spiritual characteristics.
The ascension of his physical senses.
Each one of them had their inherent limitations expanded upon under the sudden surge of spiritual energy that flowed into him. Although he had not tested out the new limitations of his strength, speed, agility or endurance, Jon was sure that each of them had been improved beyond what his Mortal self was capable of.
‘Without the usage of spiritual energy that is.’ He added on.
Jon did wonder if Theodore experienced something similar to this, although knew that he lacked the same number of physical enhancements as he did. Both his Fragment Of Heart and Fragment Of Marrow increased his base physical abilities, which could then further be amplified through his Fragment Of War, Fragment Of Destruction and Title.
Culminating in an almost dangerous amount of physical enhancements.
For other Mortals that is.
Although he had just glanced over the dozens of System prompts that once filled his vision, each one of them had been placed within his Sea Of Knowledge. Ready for him to access them at any given point in time.
There were even more notifications that he had yet to view, allowing them to appear in front of him with a slight “will” of his mind.
Tasks required before completion of System Introduction.
[2]: Discover the relationship between Mana Cores and an individual. Individuals will receive a series of set rewards depending on the comprehension and understanding of the function of a Mana Core and their mutative effects on an individual.
[5]: Exceed the constraints of a Mortal coil and obtain the qualities befitting that of a Knight. Individuals will receive a unique reward upon the completion of this task.
Jon did not accept the rewards from these two mandatory tasks, instead standing up, noticing that several pairs of eyes were all staring at him. Various expressions of shock, awe, surprise, and horror evident on each of their faces.
Taking a single step off the seat Rana had transformed her roots and tendrils into, Jon felt his foot sink several centimetres into the soft earth beneath him, raising an eyebrow at the explosive growth of his physical strength.
“Oops,” Was all he managed to say before a familiar figure manifested herself in front of him, and the voice of the Earthen Treasury Womb whispered out from behind him. The silver-white eyes of the White Lady Of The Winter Castle gazing at him, looking at him half-curious and half-expectantly.
“Jon? How are you… feeling?” Rana asked, her tone also dripping with interest and curiosity.
Adjusting his posture to stand on the balls of his feet, Jon replied with a simple nod, bouncing a couple times and feeling nothing but a newfound sense of strength flowing through him.
He was sure that a simple punch right now would be more than enough to severely injure Ashvattha Rana or even push Titus Claudius back several feet. Flowing spiritual energy into his Fragment Of Heart or Fragment Of Marrow might be enough to even shatter Eis’ ice barriers in a single blow.
With his improved mental faculties and enhanced sensitivity towards spiritual energy, Jon could feel the emotions overflow from his Fragment Of Summon and Fragment Of Tree. For the first time since summoning Schwarz Eis, he was able to feel her emotions even without her wanting him to.
Feelings of excitement bubbled up from within their minds.
The two of them would no longer just be limited to their Mortal abilities. Although it was somewhat selfish of them to want Jon to improve them before his own abilities, he could understand the sentiment that the two of them were feeling.
“Have you two come to a decision yet?” He asked them both.
Rana shook her leaves in affirmation, while Eis just smiled in response to his words.
Nothing more needed to be said. Both of them were given a second chance at life, becoming his summoned companion. Although the apex of their previous existences was something that the current Jon was incapable of comprehending, both Eis and Rana had promised the other to assist Jon with exceed even their former levels of strength.
Giving the two a small smile, Jon reached into his Red Archives, manifesting two specific fragments in the palm of his hand.
Fragment Of “Devil” discovered.

Jon selected [Schwarz Eis; White Lady Of The Winter Castle] for his Fragment Of Devil and [Ashvattha Rana; Earthen Treasury Womb] for his Fragment Of Bodhisattva. The moment that he did so, did both the bodhi tree and winter demon spirit experience something similar to the formation of a new Title.
New concepts had been imbued into each of them. Additional laws that went beyond the abilities that either of them possessed in their previous lives. Both of them experienced what Eis referred to as a “half-ascension,” where the new concepts contained within this additional fragment half-combined, half-layered with the concepts contained within their original fragment.
Resulting in something that Jon had never seen before.
[Ashvattha Rana; Earthen Treasury Womb] vanished, alongside [Schwarz Eis; White Lady Of The Winter Castle].
Manifesting in their place two new abilities with almost entirely new names.
