Cassie Greeley

I am on a horror kick right now, so I’ve been pulling from this list. You’re so right about Jagger Jr.‘s acting being as bad as the sets are gorgeous. I gotta add three horror/suspense/sci-fi movies I’ve loved: nocturne (beautifully executed metaphor), the menu (I watched it like three times in a row), and project ithaca.

I'm just happy Resident Evil was on this list.

Thanks 😊 I’ve seen about 1/2 this list so I’m going to trust the other half

Christian Toral

wow, any other thoughts?

Lindsay Addie

Ewwwwww Malignant was AWFUL. So painfully awful and obvious. Nothing redeeming about it. Yuck.

Deanna

Malignant deserves to be all the numbers.

Chris Mingus

I respectfully disagree with you on Escape Room 2. I feel like the actual plot linking these elaborate set pieces together is flimsy at best. It's like if Saw was PG-13.

PhabulousAndrew

Omg so surprised Last Night in Soho is not on this list

James Rambo

Malignant was so damn good. So many horror movie fans take themselves too seriously and that seemed to be the folks that really didn't like this.

Many in common, now I really want to watch Gaia. Sounds very interesting

S. Baer Lederman

Love this list and your write ups! Thanks!

cal

you should watch the youtube horror video "the curve," shits batshit fucking BONKERS

This list is rad! As a new parent wasting time on bad movies is at the bottom of my list and I love horror but damn, is it an easy genre for stinkers. Thank you for the recs!

Tessl8

I'm so happy to see RE: Welcome to Raccoon City on this list, it was filmed in my town (they film lots of horror here but this one was fun since they had sets downtown during the pandemic).

I just watched Wrong Turn and I will never trust you again.

I’m surprised there’s no love for His House! Such a fascinating exploration of trauma and guilt, all while being a biting take-down of the dehumanizing experience of immigration. Great performances, too!

Joshua Tonks

Dude, I totally dig this list!

Joshua Tonks

Of course you’re a horror fan! 🤩

Linda Boden

I’m surprised No One Gets Out Alive isn’t on this list if you were a fan of The Ritual.

My partner questions why “the dark and the wicked” and “the medium” aren’t on this list. Totally solid list!

MALIGNANT STANS RISE UP!!!!!

Thrilled to see Gaia and The Old Ways on this list! I went into both without knowing what I was going to get and I was pleasantly surprised.

Rein Desdemona

I'm one of the 12 hardcore fans who saw RE and I was really surprised to see it on your list! I went in with low expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. It had all the right nods to the original games, the acting was pretty good, and I actually enjoyed the combining of stories and characters.

Surprised to see an old Indonesian horror movie in the mix! Suzanna (main actress) was an icon!

Thank you for listing Caveat, I LOVE that movie but it never got the buzz it deserves

Little Rabbit

Ok, now I need to know what you hated about it lol

Adam Ellis

I saw it! 😅

I'm surprised there are 9 movies on this list I haven't even heard of before since I consider myself a dedicated horror fan. Who even am I???

Have you seen Hereditary or Midsommer?

Jerry

Woo! Gonna make a spreadsheet with where we can watch these!

Little Rabbit

You need to check out the French movie Advent Calendar

I love this. You need to watch the Ritual

Adam Best

Gonna be checking some of the ones I haven’t seen out! Also, interestingly enough, the 2021 Candyman doesn’t completely ignore the sequels; they use the name Daniel Robitaille! I found that interesting cause for the longest time, I coulda sworn they gave him that name in the first film!

Stephanie Goodner

Great list. Thanks for sharing!

I love horror (books, movies, fandom culture, etc) but I cannot do jump scares. Like - cannot - as in, I have never seen the yeti on the Matterhorn ride in Disneyland. Anyway… do any of these movies not have jump scares? Or.. like, very few? Thaaaanks 😬

Amber Stone

This is such a cool list. I can wait to share it with my friend who makes me watch a LOT of horror movies. (Case in point, we've watched about half of these. Also, ANTLERS is in my list now. We just watched it a few days ago.)

Colleen Rose

I LOVE RED EYE, SO MUCH. Definitely my favorite Wes Craven. Also, I totally agree with your commentary on Old and very much want to read the source material.

Til Death was way better than I expected. Good placement. Now to watch The Deep House.

Adam Ellis

Old is a MESS but I really liked it.

Adam Ellis

I didn’t love it! Definitely had some good parts and I get why people like it, but it just didn’t grab me. 😔

Sailorboi88

I'm surprised Last Night in Soho isn't on this list? :(

Kevin

False positive was really interesting. And I want to see Old. I missed it when it was on HBO.

Michele Phelps

I’m one of those who’s thrilled Malignant is your #1. We love this movie. And my 17 has been perfecting their cosplay of the main baddie.

I came here for cartoon dicks but oh boy am i glad that i stayed

Nikolas Bennett

✨✨And unto them a perfect Christmas movie playlist was born ✨✨

theo

Oh nice...fear street is one of my favourites.

Ahh thank you! I’m always looking for more horrors to watch ♥️ loved the VHS movies!
