Silver Beard

We're getting to the two Collective members that made it pre-invasion. Hopefully be in the habit now and analyzing (and mentioning) anyone particularly strong now that everyone's been inducted.

Timothy Nugent

So, it is good that you brought this up. I intentionally made Blake not only an inexperienced leader, but uncomfortable with fame. In the ten years prior, he was a warrior, but had no position of power, and was mostly an unknown. His greatest strength was as a survivor, who disliked authority. In the first book, Blake never really had a chance to grow his leadership capability. He was busy fighting, or putting out fires. Then, he was forced to react to the police and government's hostile actions. He was also not a well known figured until the end. In book two, however, he will grow used to command, over time, and will learn to accept the responsibility. Most people when thrust into leadership feel imposter syndrome. Blake is no different. However, he will be forced to learn not only how to lead, but to plan ahead, and will eventually become comfortable with the mantle placed upon him. Remember, if your main character is perfect from the beginning, it is impossible for them to grow as a person.

Timothy Nugent

You will find out if you are right in the next chapter :P

Timothy Nugent

lol so true

SmokeJam

Yes he did, that was stated by Jennifer last chapter I believe. It is shorter, still looks like shit though

SmokeJam

Depends if he actually used his brainpower to memorize them. I haven't seen him using much brain outside of fighting yet :D

John Doe

I will be seriously disappointed if Blake does not recognize him considering the knock down/drag out fight that he had with him previously. The captain is not a subtle looking guy. :-)

John Doe

I hope that the Blake character can display signs of interpersonal growth soon. His introverted nature is holding his leadership capabilities back. I believe that he is approx. 28 years (real time) YOA at this point. He does not seem to be getting over his aversion to simply talking to his new citizens. It seems like any task that requires regular face to face communication is really difficult for him and gets pushed off on someone/anyone else. After 28 years, I hope that he starts to get better at this. He would rather punch monsters than spend face time with folks. Does he have ADHD? It is going to be rather tricky avoiding talking to people considering his current world status. :-) *P.S.: Did he ever get around to cutting his hair/shaving with a magic modified blade (or even bathing/washing his clothes) after he returned from his meet & greet with the architect?

Denis Schreiner

"Donna Summers: Blake, I think we may have a problem." Bitch is there ever not a problem when you message your son, busiest man alive.

Timothy Nugent

He is using it, I just didn't think people wanted me to mention it over and over again. I'll have to feature it a few more times. He also raised it to Analyze III, and I didn’t mention that. Sorry, I didn’t think people.would care.

Silver Beard

He's so intent on leveling his spells/skills, but he never seems to use analyze?

Undead Writer

Thanks for the chapter!

SmokeJam

Well that didn't work as expected Mr. Peters, huh? Lucky for him Blake is probably still too naive and won't smell the fish.
