Diesel trucks can be converted to a crank start and run 100% without any electricity. Yes, the body needs electricity to work, I even have Rajesh call this out in a chapter. Once the entire world is flooded with nanomachines, the AI can pick and choose what electrical reactions it allows. I do not understand your 3rd point.

Half Life

Along the same lines of advice: you should probably drop the whole idea that electricity does not work after the apocalypse, for several reasons. First, the trucks won't work, even without electric starters, since all combustion engines rely on electric spark generating plugs to ignite fuel. Two, all nervous system functions in the body are electrical signals at their root. Three, electricity obviously does not interfere with nano, or the characters would not be able to do anything so far in the story. As such, it just comes across as arbitrary and poorly thought out.

I am loving this story. Food for thought: When humans are exposed over and over to stressors, their brain chemistry changes. Thus, their responses to stimuli are modulated. Older criminal gang members, soldiers, L. E. personnel quite often appear to become "apathetic" or less emotionally responsive to stimuli than "civilians". Their neurohormone physiology measurably undergoes an evolution. Here is where this trend applies to our favorite protagonist: He is maxing out his brain chemistry for long periods of time with multiple "dives" a day. It would be like a soldier living in an extended and accelerated front line combat scenario/position for YEARS. Strangely enough, the character is still displaying heightened neurosis and emotional instability when faced with ongoing or new stressors. Here is an example: "Blake began to panic. How long do I have to wait? Will I be stuck here for years?" We use to call people who respond to stress like Blake is doing in this scene "TWITCHERS". They don't often last long in the business... They either burn out, die or quit...FAST. The character's hyper manic fixation with growing his community faster and diving for points multiple times a day could be another symptom of being a Twitcher. These observations are just a bit of seasoning for the author to consider as the protagonist's psyche is fleshed out in coming chapters. Please accept these insights in the spirit in which they are offered and best of luck with the long term progression of this very enjoyable work. :-) Signed: John Doe.
