Ah shit I'm caught up. Great story, there is so much potential and you're pacing it great

Gabriel Melnik

I have been looking for diesel planes and there is an interesting story about those engines. Basically they were some experimental engines on the '20 and '30 but got shelved because gasoline engines were better. This changed because the price of avgas went to shit after the 2008 crisis and the small plane community couldn't shoulder such extreme prices, paving a comeback for diesel engines. Then the whole diesel aeroplanes got a lot of wind when Cessna incorporated a diesel engine modification kit as an factory option but got shelved again when 100LL avgas went down from $7 dollars (In fuckin 2012 mind you) to $4 dollars. One bummer is that any modern aviation grade Bio-fuel on the aviation market is designed to be blended on 50-50 mixture between regular jet fuel and biofuel. Anyways a Continental CD-230 with modified controls *should* be able to shrug off the permanent EMP the architect should be blasting 24/7 and be within regulations. Edit: I kept digging and I just spewed some major bullshit mentioning the CD-230 because it's built with an electronical control unit (The computer that handles fuel injections, even though this model shouldn't have an spark plug) Long story short, if you want working modern diesel engines to work during a permanent EMP then you need some heavy-duty team of engineers/aviation enthusiast that could retrofit a mechanical pump into the modern fuel injection valves, and the funny thing is I'm not sure which one is harder, to find almost century old trucks in working order or retrofit modern engines with century old tech.

Gabriel Melnik

It would be a cool way to allow the band do raids on unused infrastructure and old tech once the invasion hits. Things like mechanical calculators, old lathes, smelters, farming equipment, old drills and whole host of tech from the 1880-1900 that could get mileage if the AI doesn't scrap them. Also it could be a way to keep people alive, doing supply runs dropping food in air drops (This could only happen if Mr. Robert got to work real hard) Keep in mind it would enable the rescue of high value targets (like physicist, engineers, doctors, etc) from dangerous places in a quick and easy way.

Timothy Nugent

Yes, I hold the pen, but I also don't want to give away the story through spoilers. :P

Gabriel Melnik

I mean the one that holds the pen at the end of the day is you, and if the alien wood can be used in any profitable enough way then it becomes viable, and if it bottlenecks future faction hall levels then a pseudo supply chain becomes a necessity.

Timothy Nugent

If they had an airplane mechanic in their faction that knew what they were doing, sure. I guess we'll have to see if they do. His last faction didn't have one.

Timothy Nugent

True. Although, he currently believes he will only need to enter this specific portal once. Whether that's true or not, I suppose we'll see. :P

Sean

I don't think so. I read a lot of books on maybe I just mixed the start of yours up with another? I'll go check my reading history

Timothy Nugent

Did you read my other series, Beast Invasion? That MC lived in Colorado, and it's where book 2 and 3 took place.

Gabriel Melnik

Yeah but if they need to go there more than once then getting in the right way can prevent shit from going tits up. And if you factor the possible diesel CI zenith then getting there and doing the whole route becomes way faster (It's a golf course in the middle of the dessert, there should be some landing strip nearby)

Zach

Hopefully he doesn't get too much more attention before things kick off. A bit of digging, and it seems likely he might end up with unwanted visitors at his faction town too early.

Sean

Oh weird, why did I think he lived in Colorado?

Timothy Nugent

you're welcome!

Timothy Nugent

Lol. Same state, different counties, but yeah, that'd be interesting.

Timothy Nugent

Lol. Kuruk's old car would give them away. Regardless, no one called the cops on them for being poor. :D

Undead Writer

Thanks for the chapter!

Sean

I'm waiting for the next chapter where the rich golfers don't dismiss it and call the cops. What's better than being wanted in 1 state? Being wanted in two!

Gabriel Melnik

Damm .338 doesn't just kill the body, it pierces the soul. Edit: bruh they could have dressed on typical rich guy outdoor clothes and asked for a golf course and no one would have batted an eye. Second edit: I just had the realization that they could retrofit a zenith 750 kit with some old parts and get an diesel CI engine based aeroplane.
