It's rare for a series to just keep getting BETTER AND BETTER, but guess what? Natsume's Book of Friends DOES, y'all! This two-parter was one of my favorites of the SERIES so far! Setting up mystery, questions, giving us time with new characters, developments with old relationships - this set checks off SO. MANY. BOXES for me!

Shady Madara is so much fun, especially towards Natori! 😛 I love that Natsume gets to do “normal” things and AHAHAHA your description of how he used to feel is everything to me - that’s so funny and so sad! AND TRUE. Madara and Makishima and their madeleine-fueled book club? WOULD Makishima want the book of friends? PROBABLY. Yesss, I’m 100% for Natsume being (perhaps…allegedly?) like Reiko in being opposition of the exorcists is so good! I love it! Also, Natsume being so comfortable in himself is such great growth for him! The messages with this episode on loss of sight and connecting it to what we really could experience in real life was very well-done! Very well done, indeed! I am loving season 6 so far and cannot wait for this next week! Thank you!

Loved the reaction and discussion! Another really fun two-parter! 🥰 Various things I loved: Madara throwing shade, ever enjoyable to me 😂 Generally, seeing Natsume just out and about and doing activities! 🥰 Even something as small as going into town for a walk around, a movie and a snack – can be a huge thing for someone like Natsume (who has in the past viewed everything as far as his own consumption of oxygen as a selfish act) Madara nibbling on madeleines Love that Natsume is more and more placing himself in opposition to exorcists explicitly. The fact that he trusts his lived experiences and moral compass, also really speaks to his strength and growth! 🥰 I definitely agree with the points in the discussion about this ‘loss of sight’ being a direct parallel to degenerative neurological conditions. Especially if we take ‘being able to interact with yokai as usual’ as the complete level of ability and functioning, I think losing that counts even if someone’s ‘human’ functioning is not impaired. And I really love how through this we are shown the impact on the people (and yokai) around Yosuke – the confusion and stress. Very well done. Really fun discussion for this set! Looking forward to next week! 💙
