The way that you are feeling such angst hints that you already feel connected to the characters which should give great payoffs by and by. I've been laughing during this reaction which means that I do think you will decide by the end that the angst was worth it. (I'm not a heartless beast,)

And the thing with the 'past' actor being the same as the 'present' one, it's actually all the past with Eun Gyeol's dad, they showed us two timelines at the same time but I was also confused when I watched it the first time

The thing with Eun Gyeol and his dad arguing and Eun Gyeol saying, 'How could I have convinced you, you can't even hear', it's about him being unable to show his dad his music. Like, he's thinking along the lines of convincing his dad of his love for music by playing for him, so that his dad can hear how good he is.
