Chapter 13: Prom, Part 1
April started with college decisions. Miles came over on the day they were coming out, and we both opened our laptops side by side on my bed. We were a bit tense. My heart was beating in my throat. We’d been waiting for this moment for months.
“Ready?” Miles asked, his finger hovering over the mouse.
“Yeah, let’s just do it.” My heart was hammering.
We opened our emails at the same time. We could tell from the subject lines what the answers were, but it was a surreal blast of information all at once, and I almost blacked out from the tension. Both of us read silently, our eyes widening. “Holy shit,” I said, grinning. “I got into a couple ivies.”
“No way, me too,” Miles said, turning his screen toward me.
We smiled, shocked, but deliriously happy. Same result. “You gotta be kidding me,” I said, my voice cracking. “The same two Ivy League schools? Both of us??”
Miles shook his head and laughed. “We’re fucking unstoppable.” We hugged tight, bouncing a little on the bed from the energy. I didn’t even think, I got so worked up, I pushed him back against the pillows and started going down on him right then.
He groaned, his hand immediately finding the back of my head. We were still sort of laughing, still reeling from the news, and the adrenaline turned straight into celebration. It was a moment in my life where I felt like I was a real winner, like nothing could go wrong. My life was on track, and I was set up for great things. I was going to do whatever I wanted. I was halfway down his shaft when the door creaked open. Johnny froze in the doorway, eyes wide, then just shook his head and walked right back out. Miles and I didn’t even flinch. We just kept going. I jerked his thick and heavy shaft into my mouth while I swirled my tongue on the head of it and made him moan until I emptied his nuts into my mouth. It tasted like pure victory, like a perfect life.
When it was over, we pulled our laptops up, reading through the details of the admissions. “We don’t even have to decide yet,” Miles said. “We can visit and figure it out.”
“Yeah,” I agreed. “We’ll do it together.”
I scrolled through the top ranked school on the list of the ones I got into, and got to the bottom of the acceptance letter attachment. I got a little knot in my stomach.
It read, "Admission is granted on the condition that you maintain satisfactory academic performance and uphold the standards of conduct expected by the university. Failure to do so may result in revocation of this offer."
The pang in my stomach brought me back to the looming threat from Rob. If he told the coach, or whomever, then this could fuck up my entire life. They would ask other guys on the team who had seen us sneaking around, and confirm it. I started to panic again, after having successfully put it out of my mind for a while. Rob had avoided me completely at school, and I assume he avoided Miles as well. Miles and I quit going to the showers completely, and got our rocks off elsewhere. But none of that meant we were in the clear.
"Miles," I said.
"Yeah?"
"What are we gonna do about Rob?"
He made a slightly nervous face, but didn't seem extremely bothered. "Well, he hasn't said anything yet. I don't think they'll murder us over it. Maybe things will just be fine."
I wrapped an arm around him and moved on to reading the rest of the acceptance letters.
"Oh," he said after a minute, "What do you wanna do for prom?"
I hadn't even thought about that. It was in three weeks.
"I just assumed we'd go together," I said.
"Is that your way of asking me?" he said with a sort of mischievous grin.
"Shouldn't you be asking me?" I said, "You're the top."
He closed his eyes and shook his head. Even Miles had enough of me sometimes.

Prom night was supposed to feel like a big deal, and it did. After the chaos of the pool party and Rob’s looming threat, things between Miles and me were tight as ever. We had gotten even closer during those weeks, and it felt good to finally be fully out. Our families knew, some guys at school knew, and we weren't hiding anything. But that question lingered, what about Rob? His text about praying on it, about maybe reporting us, sat in the back of my mind. I couldn’t shake it, but I wasn’t about to let him ruin prom.
Miles and I decided we were going “stag,” but together. It was like a gay statement, since our school didn't allow two males on one prom bid. It was stupid, but we were just far enough from the big city that some conservative shit like that snuck through sometimes.
The day of prom Miles showed up at my house in the morning and hung out all day, and we suited up together. He looked so hot wearing a tuxedo, I couldn't keep my hands off of him. We rolled out around sunset and he drove us together. We skipped the dumb limo stuff. As exhibitionist as we were, we didn't like all the attention that comes with the showy stuff.
When we showed up at the aquarium, where the prom was being held, most everyone else had corsages and matching colors, but we walked in side by side, just us, two dudes. Not exactly glass shattering these days, but it didn't happen every day in our town.
But, apparently, we weren't the only gay couple at prom this year. My jaw dropped when I saw Landon and Greg were there together. It wasn't even Landon's year for prom.
"Shit, what is Landon doing here?" I said, nudging Miles.
"What the fuck?" Miles said, "He didn't even tell me he was coming, and he's here with Greg??"
They were dressed sharp, and sticking together as they meandered around the snacks and punch.
"I guess they're like... out together now?"
Landon's eyes scanned the room until they saw us. And he just smiled and nodded upward, the way guys do. I smiled back, and grabbed Miles' hand and headed to the dance floor. The party really got started.
Rob was there too. He wore a pressed suit, stiff and square, and he looked like he was trying too hard to have fun. He didn’t dance, didn’t joke around, just stood on the sidelines sipping Sprite. But I caught him staring more than once, at me, at Miles, at Landon and Greg swaying together. He looked like he had swallowed something sour. He sipped punch on the perimeter, never fully joining in. I dance with miles and we get hot and heavy, our public instincts kicking in, overwhelming our senses and inhibitions. We started to rub our boners on each other, smiling like idiots and laughing.
Joey showed up very late with Brittany, which surprised no one, but it was still funny to see her clinging to him the whole night like she wanted everyone to know she’d moved on from chasing me. I didn’t care. I was just glad she was Joey’s problem now.
The aquarium was decked out with fake stars hanging from the ceiling, disco lights, and that cheesy balloon arch everyone had to walk under. Music blasted, students screamed lyrics, and chaperones pretended not to see the semi wild grinding going on. I was pretty sure at least one dancing pair was having sex on the dance floor. Prom was exactly what you’d expect.
During the slow dance, Greg and Landon had their heads on each other's shoulders near us, and Brittany and Joey were basically glued together.
During the next fast song, Miles and I lost all our fear, and went for it. I pulled out his dick and he pulled down my pants, bringing out my ass. He rubbed it against me up and down while we made out over my shoulder. He held me perfectly as we swayed with the beat of the stupid semi-rap prom music. The sweat on my ass let him slip into me, and the small group around us either stared, jaws dropped, or cheered us on, or raised their eyebrows and walked away.
Suddenly Rob was on the small perimeter of students circling us. He looked shocked, almost like he was going to cry? He muttered something about "faggots" to one of his baseball buddies and stormed off, like he was going to find a chaperone. My chest went tight, reality setting in. We're fucked, I thought to myself, this was so stupid. Miles and I pulled our pants up and followed him. I couldn’t let him ruin this night.
We followed Rob quickly, weaving through the aquarium crowd, trying to catch up before he could reach a chaperone. I saw the back of his suit vanish around a corner and we hurried after him, but when we turned the bend he was nowhere in sight. We slowed, glancing around the dim hallway, the tension building with every second we couldn’t spot him.
But hormones don’t care about context, and when we gave up on finding him, the tension between me and Miles that had started on the dance floor boiled over. After a while of wandering around the aquarium, he leaned in and whispered, “Let’s do it some more.”
"I think we have a problem," I said as we slipped away into one of the dark, side hallways away from the main vein of the exhibits. Miles chuckled. "Yolo."
It was dim, quieter, and the thumps of the music were muffled. We leaned against a hauntingly beautiful. illuminated jellyfish tank, kissing, hands rubbing up and down each other's bodies. It was our standard risky behavior, teachers were not far away, students were also wandering around. One couple, a guy and girl I recognized but wasn't friends with, came into our area holding hands. We didn't stop, but they froze when they saw us. I glanced at them while Miles nibbled on my neck and dry humped me, holding my hips. They took a look at us, and just shrugged and turned to each other and started making out as well, leaning against the wall of the giant fish tank opposite us. That's hot, I thought, we started a hookup zone. Miles pressed me against the cold glass, his hand sliding down the front of my pants, and I was already hard. I grabbed him back, palming his giant hog through his slacks. He kissed me harder, and I was quickly ready for more.
Just when I was about to go down on him, I saw Rob down the hall, turning a corner.
"Oh shit, there he is!" I whispered. Miles turned to look and caught him just as he disappeared. We jogged down the hall to find him, and when we turned the corner, we saw a bathroom door closing. We looked at each other, and walked in.

You had me up until the part where he pulled out Miles' dick on the dance floor. There is horny and then there is just plan asinine. They were worried about Rob saying something and ruining their lives and what do they do, put it all on display in front of the entire prom party. When Rob made the comment and stormed off, one would think, oh shit we've done too much but nope, not them. They decide to continue out in the hallway where others can see them, making it easy for other to confirm what Rob would say. I would have preferred this chapter be about finding out who was all in the basement after the pool party and/or how Landon & Greg hooked up the first time and if they are indeed a couple. Sex stories are great but only as long as they make sense and the behavior in this chapter didn't come close to making sense. I wouldn't say they lost their fear but what I would say is they lost their minds.
