They all rushed into the safe room on the thirteenth floor. No one wanted to be outside in the blistering heat longer than necessary. They had heard stories of the desert floors, of course, but they had never seen a desert before. Such things existed on Bluemountain, of course, but not on their continent.
They had not truly believed that simple sand could be such a barrier. But trudging through the dunes was like walking through the swamp floors, only there was not even stagnant water to cool your skin when the heat got unbearable. And the way the sand reflected the heat made it even worse! Not to mention…
“Ugh! I’ve got sand in places I didn’t even have before coming here!” Danyll moaned. The Shadowblade had been a man when he entered the dungeon, before a curse transformed him to a her, so she wasn’t even lying.
Rhys just chuckled, and said, “Well, three floors of this, and then we’ll be in the caves, and closer to finding the object we were sent here to obtain.”
Emblema laughed. “You think the sand is a problem now, Danyll? Wait until the boss. It should be a Lewd Giant Sand Slime. So, it will be fucking you with its sandy tentacles, and you’ll be moaning for more the whole time, while those of us with ranged attacks keep out of range of the creature’s pheromones.”
Teffany nodded slowly. “Indeed. Danyll is the only one of us who has no ranged attacks in their arsenal. Except for those throwing knives she keeps. Not enough for a prolonged fight against a floor boss, though.”
“Th-that’s not all,” she protested. “I have the [Blackwood Spellfire Crossbow] we got from the boss’s loot! It uses MP to fire bolts of force at the target, like a stronger version of Master’s spellbow.”
“But you don’t have the skills to do anything but use it with a base level of proficiency.” Elia shook her head. “Don’t worry about it too much, Danyll. The magic of the seventh floor at least means that, since you’ve already been bred, like the rest of our Master’s women, the slime can’t breed you again. Won’t do anything about the sand, but at least you don’t have to worry about that.”
“Anyways,” Merewen said with a bit of exasperation, as she began pulling off her armor. “While we’re in the safe room, we should take the time to clean up, restock our stores of water, and have a proper rest. It might be a bit early in the day, but the string of fights in the arena, and then going straight to the desert? I think we could all do with an early day of it.”
Danyll did not respond to the teasing, though her expression spoke volumes. The girl was still getting used to the changes that had happened. Becoming a man, and having her master breed her were only the two most pronounced. The third change was subtler, but much harder for the former male to accept.
Before they had entered the dungeon, he had been addicted to darkeye, a magical drug that enhanced one’s nightvision, without the accompanying vulnerability to sudden flashes and bright lights that normally went with such enhancements. Of course, the drug was addictive, and if you did not continue using it regularly, then the withdrawal made you temporarily blind. But, for a thief and assassin, that was often an easy choice to make.
That choice had led him to becoming one of Rhys’s Thralls. Rhys supplied him with the darkeye that he needed, and he served. Sometimes as his Master’s blade in the dark. Sometimes helping prepare the others for his Master’s attention. A few times, he had served, himself, but neither of them were terribly fond of that.
Which led to the change that was not as evident from the outside. Her darkeye addiction was gone, with her old body. But she still had the Addict title in the System. She’d heard about such things. Addicts talked, after all. It didn’t mean that she was cured, but rather that the addiction was waiting to get transferred to something else. Usually, it only happened when an addict got a taste of something stronger, or they indulged in something more often than their main addiction. In this case, having her body remade had ‘reset’ the addiction.
If she’d taken some darkeye, it would have safely gone back to what she was familiar with. But her Master kept the supply of darkeye, rationing it, so she couldn’t run through it all at once. And he decided to punish her for failing her challenge and getting cursed by breaking in her new, unused pussy. Which meant that she was now addicted to her Master’s wonderful cock. And now, she was going to end up giving birth to one of his kids. In nine months, at least.
Rhys nodded, drawing Danyll’s thoughts away from her situation. “I agree, Merewen. We could all use a good rest after that. But first, a bath. Everyone into the bath. I believe all of you have earned a nice reward.”
Danyll quickly started stripping out of her leather armor. Thankfully, the enchanted gear had changed to fit her after her body changed. It would have been a big problem, otherwise. A laugh from the side made her freeze, halfway out of her pants.
“Someone’s eager for your reward, Master,” Teffany grinned. “Perhaps losing her cock has given her a taste for it?”
Danyll blushed, but didn’t say anything as her Master put his hand on her rear, one finger stroking against her folds. She didn’t need to say anything. The moan was answer enough.
“Your addiction shifted, didn’t it, Danyll?” Her Master’s words were like honey as he began slipping his fingers in and out of her wetness. She would have asked how he knew just where and how to touch her, but she already knew the answer. After all, he had plenty of practice, with all of them.
“Y-yes, Master. I don’t desire darkeye anymore.”
Rhys nodded. “Good. I was concerned about how to keep feeding your addiction while we were on Earth. I doubt they have alchemists who know how to create darkeye, yet. So, we could call this a happy ending for your misadventure in the challenge room. After all, you’re much happier now that you have a constant source of your new addiction, aren’t you?”
“Yes, Master.”
Her Master laughed, and then led the way to the large open bath. Just like the ones they had seen on other floors in the safe rooms. And, just as he had done then, Rhys indulged in what everyone in the group had to offer their Master. It was good to be the one in charge.
Later, after they had thoroughly enjoyed the bath, had a meal, gotten a good eight hours of sleep, and enjoyed a breakfast of rations (with Eria winning the game of chance to relieve their Master’s morning wood with her mouth), they emerged from the safe room, refreshed, and ready to combat the rest of the floor. Thankfully, the heat had not continued to mount while they were in shelter. But it was not so cool that they could afford to linger.
Climbing up the ravine was easy enough, with their stats and skills. Going back into the desert, on the other hand, was not what any of them truly wanted to do, but they all acknowledged the necessity. Together, they set off, in search of the boss.

Thankfully, Elia was able to spot the boss before it got too close. The desert was not exactly the preferred type of terrain for the Darkwoods Druid, but she was still a druid, and a Master Survivalist, so she was still the best scout they had for this desert. Which was good, since the slime was easily larger than four horses put together, and was able to sprout tentacles of sand that reached up to ten meters away!
“Level 32,” Teffany called out, [Long-Range Appraise] showing its worth yet again. “Violator and Tough titles. Means it will get in the gaps of our armor, and has a lot more HP. In addition to a slime being resistant to physical attacks.”
“Right,” Rhys said, voice full of command. “Like we practiced. Spread out, ranged attacks. Keep moving. This thing isn’t terribly fast, but it can still match our pace in this sand. We move around, to keep it from catching any of us. If you get in the range of its tentacles, you’re already going to be suffering from its pheromones.”
This was the basic battle plan they had come up with, after hearing the information that the Guild had on this boss. Relatively maneuverable for its size, with good reach on its melee attacks, and the ‘lewd’ template which had a fifty-fifty chance of targeting either gender each time it was spawned, and a strong resistance to physical attacks. The answer, then, was to draw the beast into circles. When one person started drawing too much attention from the slime, and it started moving their way, they’d stop attacking, use any skills or items they had to shed threat from an opponent, and move away as quickly as possible, while everyone else kept up the attack. The slime’s limited intellect would then send it after the next largest threat, who would back off, while the original target joined in with the others on the attack.
It was not a courageous method of attack. It wasn’t the kind of thing that you would sing songs and tell tales about. And it certainly wasn’t quick. However, it was reliable, and had the best chance of working, with the fewest casualties. The only question wasn’t whether they could take down the boss with this method, because others had proven that it could be done, but that the heat would continue building throughout the fight, just as it always did on the floor. Which meant that, at a certain point, there was a time limit on how long things could go. Even with potions and gear to boost heat resistance protecting them, their gear would eventually begin to suffer in the dry heat, perhaps even enough to start shaving at the durability. The test was whether they could do enough damage before their gear was ruined.
In the end, the fight took almost an hour. Not terribly long, in absolute terms. However, for a fight that was actively running that whole time? It was what the people here on Earth would call a marathon. At several points, they had been rationing their attacks, to give their MP time to regenerate properly, with only Danyll and Rhys attacking, since their weapons used less mana than the others’ attacks. Still, the boss had died, which was all that mattered, really.
Even better, they all managed to pick up another level after the fight, pushing them to level 28. Which meant that it was time to accept what needed to be done. They had heard about the next floor, after all.
Rhys looked at the group, and said, “All right, everyone make sure to spend one of your skill points on whatever movement or rhythm skill you picked while we were looking through the [Skill Primers] in Swamptown. I really do not want to try and outrun the boss for the next floor.”
Everyone nodded, not even needing him to order them to do that. Rhys picked up [Dancing], since it could be used for more than just moving through the sand without making a rhythm. Danyll, Teffany, and Merewen picked up [Survival], which was a skill that also had more general uses. Emblema already had [Dancing], and Eria had [Survival], thanks to their professions, but they both took [Desert Movement] to further increase their mobility on the sand.
Seeing everyone was ready, Rhys nodded, and turned towards the portal. “Let’s go.”
