The monster's heart skipped a beat, and he realized he'd been caught in the act. With the agility of a cat burglar, he recoiled into the closet, his six arms retreating into his bulbous form as he pressed himself against the cool, dark wood. His breath hitched, a silent hiss that dissipated into the fabric of the darkness. He waited, his pulse hammering in his chest, as her eyes searched the room.
