New Salad Fingers in the works
🕑 Added 2022-01-19 01:18:17 +0000 UTCI have a new Salad Fingers on the way. I don't want people to try and guess the plot or anything which is why I have been quiet about it.
It's not a short one like "Market" but it's not a 12 minute one like "Glass Brother"
I reckon it'll be a 6 minute job. I don't know if I will call it Salad Fingers 12. Perhaps it'll be episode #12 but won't have it in the title. I don't know. I like chronology but it's not like it follows on from the last one.
You may have noticed from the screenshots that it looks more like the original episodes than the later ones. Well it occurred to me that I don't need to keep pushing towards realism by adding 3d layers and realistic textures because all that does it takes loads of extra time. I was actually happy with the look of Salad Fingers around episodes 7-9.
Finding unspoilery screenshots is hard.

Art tier is gone. DF sent a message to those on it saying it was slowing down his main work. Also said that there is going to be some original art made available on salad fingers webshop though, so you should be able to pick some up there at some point.

Yah, no need to stress about it with adding more work. As long as you're not seeing it as a long painful chore, then we're good. Hate when something you like is turned to seen as a chore. I think all of us experienced that at least some point in our life.

Naturally I want you to always grow and develop as an artist, but I do think that too much of the hyper-realism takes me out of the moment when it clashes with the classic style of SF. I do agree with Eric that "Market" had the perfect look. It was a natural development and advancement of the classic style without going overboard into realism.

Well that was the original idea but in the process I took the animation and visuals up a notch. So it's more like Episode 9 style, but without loads of textures.

Yeah I was impressed with "Market" for what it was and was thinking that you could just make Salad Fingers eps like that. It wouldn't detract from the enjoyment and you could probably release them more regularly.
Love that you're going back to the original styling, I imagine not burdening yourself with huge animation efforts might make it easier to get things going with any new episode. Can't wait!
