Jerry Jackson: Religion
🕑 Added 2019-10-23 15:35:02 +0000 UTCHey Patreoids it's a new thing: Jerry Jackson is back.
I'd been debating releasing this one for a while now but here it is. It's Jerry Jackson in his religion special. In fact it was originally just a general Jerry Jackson lesson which had the Pope in it but it became mainly focused on religion, so I swept the other stuff aside.
(That stuff will appear in the outtakes - as soon as it's presentable)
I suppose I was worried about how sensitive everyone has gotten about well everything basically then I just remembered that the mainstream don't give a crap about me and that you need to be in the spotlight to get shamed or be the victim of outrage culture and that furthermore Jerry Jackson is too confusing for most people to even see what he's getting at. It's nothing. There is no message. It's a silly character who says silly things. A small number of people decided they were offended at the trailer but as usual they lost interest when their fake outrage wasn't propelled (because remember, I'm not fashionable or an 'influencer').
Anyway it's weird that I am even providing this disclaimer of sorts because this is just your average Jerry Jackson cartoon. But it has been 7 years since the last episode! The internet has definitely become more annoying. In this time you will see that Jerry has made giant leaps in his animation abilities and although he didn't yet get a job at Disney, he's been working with Studio Ghibli and Dreamworks on a feature about Jon's Mum and The Chocolate Man.
The reason I left Jerry alone for so long was nothing to do with that though. It's because I did those 4 episodes for the BBC and then another (Life and Death) following that (which was a BBC reject) and I just got completely sick of it. Anyway, I got unsick of it since and waited until I was able to make myself laugh with it again. That is always the test, it it makes me laugh then it's good.
I'll make the video public tomorrow or something. Early access is a bit of a hassle to be honest. So it's early for all Patreons and everyone else can wait. I'd considered making it entirely Patreon exclusive but that's no fun. I like to see reactions from those who don't know what to expect.

0:12-0:15 religion explained in three seconds - the rest of it can't be more insane than that

I live in Leeds and the echoes of Saville in jerry voice are haunting me from the time out the back of the flying pizza when I was getting my frisbee back from in the bin and i felt the cold dead touch of his cigar tainted fingers on my unfortunates. the shakes have returned Jerry. badly.

"If it makes me laugh then it's good" ^_^ I'm not sure everyone agrees with this definition but as long as "me" is David Firth then i do.

Wow. The zeitgeist that was truly soul-fused with Jerry Jackson's output to begin with is no longer around, but this episode was great! It was hilarious for 95% of the main runtime, especially when conflict was part of the humour (e.g. "Listen, I am ALL gods, don't even like start with me or anything"). I agree about how weird it is that a disclaimer is considered necessary, too. I just want Internet videos and TV to be non-sensitive and edgy again. Newgrounds had clear rules against making Flashes all about hate-speech, and it still managed to create an environment where any cartoon was fair game if it was seen as decent. A video legally posted on a good platform can't hurt anybody.

You're doing God's work, good stuff

I think we’re really far removed from the amateur animations that Jerry originally satirized. That being said, I loved it. I just hope in today’s cancel culture, Jerry doesn’t get banned and replaced by the warm humming sound of the fridge.

What are your thoughts on the UK's freedom of speech laws and the whole count dankula controversey that happened a couple years back?

This is brilliant, Jerry's humour is so..innocent and dark at the same time. And the last bit made me smile

You’d hope that people got the idea that Jerry is a kinda stupid kid like all kids are and that his depiction of the chocolate man doesn’t come from a place of malice but merely childish ignorance. Especially since I don’t think jerry has ever really shown the chocolate man to be doing anything bad.
