February Poll Results!
🕑 Added 2025-01-27 12:24:47 +0000 UTCAlright, folks! Time to tabulate those poll results!
I actually intended to have this up yesterday, unfortunately I've come down with a sinus infection and am only getting things done in fits and starts while meds are working, then laying around uselessly and suffering when they aren't. Honestly, it's not a huge surprise, I might as well live in a bloody swamp, and I usually get one sinus infection every single January. I was hoping to get out of this one without one, but it was not to be, sadly.
Anyway, I did finally manage to get the vote counting done...and we have a half-expected upset on our hands! Let's take a look!
----------------
Harry Potter: Pandora's Box - 93 + (90% Boost) = 173.7
One Piece: Halfway Broken - 159
Mass Effect: Eridium Dreams - 55 + (130% Boost) 126.5
A Very Confused Pokémon Adventure - 75
----------------
Those that really wanted to see something other than Halfway Broken win pulled together for a darn impressive showing even without the boosting. With the boosting, we have a firm and unequivocal win for Harry Potter: Pandora's Box, making our second ever upset of Halfway Broken! Sadly, unlike in December, February is far too short for me to attempt an extra for Halfway Broken. So this does mean it won't be updated next month.
Never fear if the results weren't to your liking, though! If you're a Halfway Broken fan, remember that the Pandora's Box update will reset it's boost to zero. Meaning, unless we get a significant influx of followers for it, it likely won't present solid competition again for at least a few months.
Meanwhile, for the Mass Effect fans, boosts will continue to accrue for Eridium Dreams, and it's been putting up a solid showing every month. And, of course, A Very Confused Pokémon Adventure has continued to be very strong every time. It will also once again start getting a 30% boost as of next month's poll, which will put it as a strong contender that will only get stronger if it doesn't quite manage another upset.
Frankly, I'm rather pleased with how the Boost system is working out so far. It was never meant to allow less popular stories to dominate the updates. It was only meant to give them a solid chance at periodic significant updates. Which is exactly how it's working out so far. I also do have a small treat I've been working on, off and on, that might come out next month. But it's a big might, as it's only a pet project that I've been playing with for fun.
Anyway, we've got our results! Harry Potter: Pandora's Box managed the upset finally and will be updated as the third story next month!
P.S. For the two patrons who actually made the effort to guess the cameos/references in chapter 107 of Automata...yep, I added your extra votes in from the game! And they made a not insignificant difference! As did the extra votes I give a certain Patron who volunteers major editing for me on their own initative ;-).

That’s what makes them so enjoyable though! Hopefully this story will have more chances to update in the future! Especially since you seem to be drawing close with your MHA story!

Ugh. I've been meaning to cross-post the rest of the fics that aren't over there for forever. I just never seem to have the time. Pandora's Box will get cross-posted with the update next month at the very least, though. The only reason I haven't prioritized getting at least it and Eridium Dreams over there is due to the fact neither have been updated seriously since I first started crossposting on QQ. They've only gotten small, incidental extra updates since then. With a full update incoming, Pandora's Box at least with get a thread there.

Can you cross post over to QQ there’s just something that annoys me about not having every story on any platform you use Upside, you might get more attention on this story

??? The result of going un-updated for most of a year, yes. That's the whole point in the boosts existing. So eventually the stories will get updated, even if very infrequently.

It's honestly the one I've always been sort of disappointed didn't get more attention. Though I can understand why. HP fics tend to stretch out forever if you start at year 1, which I did. Worse, since I started them out at 13, it will be hundreds of thousands of words before any lemony goodness, and the Internet is for Porn.

It's certainly overdue for an update. So much so I'm going to have to re-read it myself to make sure I don't screw anything up :-p.

I actually give myself the same votes count as the upmost tier. In other words, 10 votes. Given there are actually multiple people at that tier, it doesn't really tilt things much, keeping it fair I think. This time, I put half of each of mine in Eridium Dreams and Pokemon Adventure to give them a slightly better chance.

lol the boost amount

Get well soon! Also, have you thought about giving yourself like 20 votes so you can sway the poll towards what you want to write that month? Saw that on another guys monthly pool and thought I’d mention it.

Pandora’s Box is the one fic I don’t mind updating instead of Half-Way Broken :) Can’t wait!

After another fierce battle... One Piece - Half-Way Broken has been expelled! Harry Potter: Pandora's Box has been appointed as Headmaster! Oh boy, been waiting for this one for a long while now! Love the story your crafting in this AU of Harry Potter! Can't wait to read it!
