I knew from early on, this would be a downwards wide angle shot with, hopefully, a spotlight lighting, although I am still a little surprised it all came together.
Some photo inspiration for the camera type:

(source, which I HIGHLY recommend you check out if you ever want to draw a wide angle portrait yourself!!)
Once you establish your background (or your perspective grids), for a quick and dirty way to change it to fisheye, just mess around with Photoshop's Adaptive Wide Angle filter (Filter > Adaptive Wide Angle). It only works, I think, on a flattened layer, which is a bit of a bummer, but after I set up my Perspective Grid using the methods I describe in Perspective Tools, I slammed the grids with Adaptive Wide Angle, then painted over that!!

Wow, honestly, looking at my art side by side with my that wide angle photo, I realize how much FURTHER I could (and maybe should) have pushed the wide angle effect of my art! I also think I didn't apply the Adaptive Wide Angle filter to the spotlight layer, which is bugging me now. 😬
