August Packages and HeroTec PNP
🕑 Added 2017-10-30 12:21:13 +0000 UTC Hello everyone!Quick update here to say that the next round of packages are out. Over 100 went out on Saturday and another huge batch today. ($20 supporters, expect a message asking for your game choice. )
So keep an eye on your mailboxes for the August 2017 packages (if you were a subscriber as of July 30th 2017, you’ll be getting one of these). September are up next. I would expect to see a package every few weeks until the end of the year as we’re playing hardcore catchup around here. Part of that catchup was dropping the insert (with the game names and interview). Those are always the holdup in printing and they shouldn’t be, so I’m working on a digital insert format to go along with the packages here.
Next up will be the PNPs for the month, which we’re still getting in place. Expect them ASAP.
Speaking of PNPs, here’s a new one for our upcoming Kickstarter. It’s our first since July and feels like forever. This one has been a long time in the making and is finally almost ready.
The game is HeroTec by Duane Kolar, and here’s some setup:
Welcome to HeroTec, an engineering firm that builds custom equipment for superheroes. You and your lab-mates will sift through a common stockpile of resources and plans, building items in your workshops.
Your benefactor requires four types of items: a gadget, a costume, a vehicle, and a lair. Whoever builds the best hero (most victory points (VP)), most quickly wins.
Here's the folder with everything (Note: rules and cards are not final, but getting there): https://www.dropbox.com/sh/8fzzorf6k7sbds0/AACQaOctrOiBDqbJVrXcImUka?dl=0
2018 Packages
We’ve been pushing here for a solution to make everything a little better around here and it came down to 2 things. Reducing logistics and raising the quality of the postcard games. We can reduce the large mess of logistics by getting things a little more uniform from month to month. In 2016 and 2017 we worked with a new designer and artist every single month. Each month we would start over, explain to them what we’ve done, work with them to do something different and after lots and lots of work, we were ready to start on the game. It became a big pull on our small amount of resources and we found a way to focus it. So the first step was to tighten the group up, to a smaller dedicated team that knows the product inside out.
And at the same time, by reducing the logistical nightmare, we’re able to up the quality of everything. The postcard games are made by the smaller hand picked group, and they are built far in advance. And instead of starting from scratch each month, they will expand upon the last one. We built a postcard series for 2018 that is essentially 12 episodes of a single game. You can play one or all, jumping in at any time.
With all of that in mind, expect an announcement in the next few weeks about the 2018 postcard series, and additional content that will come along with it. I'm VERY excited about this, and I hope you will be too. :)

Don't have anything on these cards, either. Link some form of rules sheet would be appreciated. No need to cross the pond physically. ;-)

I'm another with no instructions. Looks interesting, and a little inspired by Tsuro. I'm another happy to just have a PDF if that helps.

I'd probably be willing to buy up to a few if they were available to avoid having to sandwich my expansions in the wallet and use a rubber band or something to keep it closed. (Sorry for the second post; I typo'ed an enter where I shouldn't have and it submit the comment before it was done.)

While I agree the Pentaquark expansions aren't really "a wallet game", I don't recall seeing any options to buy them individually. I see game + 1 expansion or game + all expansions on the web site, and in the latter case, that's 12 more cards (15 if the colliders from here are included). It seems like a second wallet could be included for those purchases. In any case, if you do make/get/have extra Pentaquark wallets, please let me/us know -- I

Yeah me and my 7 year old son compiled those. I’d bet money that any of the ones that I did were the ones messed up. :) The insert otherwise will simply be an update here instead explaining the contents as a catch up. I need to get on that/
Venron
The insert, I have the instruction card with Micro Drift. I was surprised to read people are missing it, as it is a card like the other 4 in the game, but since it was printed separately, that explains it.
Button Shy
Were you missing or the insert or the rules sheet for Micro Drift?
Venron
I have to second the missing the insert, did I miss an announcement about it going away? Is there anyway to get an electronic only version?
Button Shy
Yes but only when applicable. Universal rule is a fall expansion when completed. We will sell it that way in a wallet. So it justifies the cost of a full run of wallets. The Pentaquark ones are sold individually So we don’t consider it a wallet game.
Iestyn
One vague thought. Have you considered selling extra wallets for those games that are expanding enough to be hard to fit in the original? Universal Rule and PentaQuark for example.
Chester
Me too! i didnt get instructions for the car cards also, but no hurries. I miss the inserts though, they really provide a nice and quick description of the contents, especially when I sort through the old postcards.
Nathan Theis
Sorry to add to this list, but I didn't receive the instructions for the car cards either. I placed an order recently for a couple of wallet games. You can throw it in with those if you'd like.
Button Shy
I’ll get corrections out to both of you, I’m not sure what happened. I do know the rule card was printed separately and they were compiled here. So a few must not have been compiled. Sorry about that!
Jesse Schmitt
Got mine today, same thing. I thought the car cards might be part of Hit & Run until I read the H&R instructions.
Nate Jones
No worries. I can just PnP if you want to post a link.
Button Shy
You’re the second with that issue. I’ll get the instructions card out to you. They were combined manually but it looks like 2 didn’t make the cut. Sorry about that!

Just got my package for August. What's up with the 4 cards for some kind of racecar game with no title or instructions?
James M.
I'm fine with varying up the material in the $10 level, but as I've said before, I would like advance notice on what's coming so that if it's some expansion content that I really want, I can modify my pledge level in time to get it. I think you said you would do that, but I'm just reminding you. :)
Button Shy
The $10+ level is still coming with the extra 6-9 cards, yes. Sometimes it will be expansion content and sometimes new games. I’m trying to hit a 50/50 to keep things exciting and fresh while also building upon what we have. Hope you enjoy it!

Games that came before it. Are we still getting the micro card games, cuz my family loooooves those. I'm glad that this will make things easier on u guys, but ur games are consistently worth any waits and delays for me CD

2018's plan sounds like a winner! I love the idea of the postcard series building on the

Thanks for the first look at the plans for 2018. It sounds interesting and should be a good way to help make sure you don't get too far behind on the monthly packages. My main interest is more in the additional material, like Twin Stars games and Pentaquark bonuses, than the postcard games (especially since they don't seem to have solo options), but that should still be enough to keep me here. ;)
