Maybe because they keep dropping the base? Is it a dubstep thing?

Paul Rymer

I don’t know what “based” means but I love Troi as a character the longer the series goes on. She looks amazing in the uniform, they should have done that years ago but the introduction of Jellico was the perfect time.

You have no idea how happy it makes me that you like Deanna, she was always one of my favorite characters but it often feels like she's under appreciated in the fandom.

Marina did have a memorable quote about the role: I was originally cast to be the brains of the Enterprise. Somehow I became The Chick. There's a little ugly girl inside of me going 'Yay! I'm a sex symbol!'

It means basically all of those things you listed. Generally it’s just the opposite of cringe.

Shows how an excellent actress can elevate a questionably conceived character.

Does “based” have a rotating meaning for you guys BASED on the situation? It popped rather suddenly and ubiquitously into your vernacular a couple months ago and doesn’t always seem to mean the same thing. Based on context, it has variously seemed to mean: righteous, correct, wise/sensible, tricky/sneaky, agreeable/considerate, candid/blunt, or ‘I agree with what they just said.’ Can you help a guy whose English is based in the 20th century? (Googling it gave me the impression people mean simple/stupid (basic) or unconventional/iconoclastic but context doesn’t give me that when you guys use it.)

Michael Collins

Lowkey my personal favourite character. Hate how the writers sometimes had no idea how to use her, but when they give her material it’s dynamite. Add to that how Sirtis acts the hell out of scenes where she doesn’t even have lines.
