I prefer this style. Yes, you get more stinkers, but you also get more room to experiment and flesh out the characters.

This one of my very few E tier episodes, because of how it brutalizes Geordi's character. I literally pretend this episode doesn't exist. Damn shame too because the premise has great potential, who doesn't love a murder mystery?

When an episode this lame follows "Ship In A Bottle", it tells you that having to pump out 26 episodes a season causes episodes like "Aquiel". This is why streaming shows are so consistently good. Fewer episodes with the same resource as the old model.

I gave it a C, because even though it's close to a D now....I remember being really surprised when first watching it as a kid "WHOA IT'S THE DOG!!!?!?!!"... So because of that I gotta give it a C.

This is one of the few episodes I will skip every time if I am watching TNG again. It's bottom ten in the entire series. It kind of solidifies that Geordi is a mediocre character as well. It's the moment where I realized it's probably not going to get any better for him from a writing standpoint. I just had no expectations for him as a character going forward.

D tier only because I am philosophically opposed to removing any of the episodes from canon. Quality-wise, this ranks for me in the bottom 5 of the series and in the bottom 15 - 20 of the entire franchise.
