One of my all-time favorite TNG episodes. ❤️❤️❤️
tux1313
A first for TV and Star Trek TNG (03/21/92) 12:01 TV movie (1993) Groundhog Day (1993). The two movies were out about a month apart. Based on two different books. Star Trek at warp speed, got here first. This is in my top 5 ST TNG episodes.
Shortskirtsandexplosions
TNG was a lot of "firsts" for me. This episode was the first time in media that I was exposed to the idea of a "Time loop." It aired roughly a year before Goundhog's Day starring Bill Murray. I remember when Majora's Mask on the N64 came out, I only had that movie and this episode to refer it to. Since then, time loops have become more and more common in media--at least from what I've observed. In short, I feel like this was daring and unknown territory to be toying with for an audience in the 90s, and I appreciate the confidence and the balls that the producers had to start out every act of this episode with virtually no explanation. "You wanna find out what's going on? Keep your ass glued to the channel ya melon fucks." Solid S Tier for melon fuckS

This is Science Fiction at it's best. What would happen if... what would you do if... Excellent writing, direction, editing. Among my top 10 for sure. S all the way!
Christopher Boutwell
My favorite all time episode of Star Trek. Probably watched this one the most, ironically.

Troi Vs. Fraiser psychology-off cage match let's gooooo!
Collin Freeman
Same
Cirk Bejnar
A personal favorite for story, character, and mystery with the bonus of Frasier as a surprise guest at the end. Very well done by Jonathan Frakes (who is now really hitting his stride as a director) and the whole cast and crew!
startrekiborg
Like a lot, but not love. I loved the name more.
Dan Here
Both theories are valid i presume, either they were stuck for 17 Days, or 80 years. Still not sure i guess now that you mention it.
startrekiborg
Yea, me too. I thought it was going to be a lot more haters. But, the S-tier is rockin' it.
Jovet
@startrekiborg I honestly had no idea this episode was loved this much!
Jovet
The pre-titles bit is setup for most-severe shock value. Alas it didn't work on me. But a small part of me wishes it could have!
Jovet
@Dan Here I think they were. It's why they're from so long ago!
Jovet
@startrekiborg I still expect tears and bawling, several times this season to come. Your username also suggests another episode you like that is coming up.
Chris Mickelson
In my personal top 5! I really enjoy the twilight zone or temporal displacement episodes a lot. I like other moral dilemma/klingon/mystery kinds of episodes too, but this true sci-fi kind of stuff is the other side of the coin so to speak.
ByRikersBeard
Best episode ever! 🫳🎤
Boggle
One of the better episodes of the season. Top THREE, even. I'm a sucker for a decently done "Groundhog Day" plotline. Low 'S'.
Matthew McKinnon-Gray
Quintessential TNG. This is the episode I recommend to people when trying to get them into the show
DataL0re
I feel you'll love this and hate it, I love it because its great, but hate it because its to short, and having seen this episode a 100 times or more, The idea of repeating a day over and over is great, ( like groundhog day). I just hope its not to obvious the solution to the problem . ignore the number 3 :)
Matt Newmark
Aww THREE hearts? That's a lot of love.
startrekiborg
Judging from the comments, it's a well liked episode. So, TA will call it a B
startrekiborg
No spoilers, but i think i know what #1 is. It's probably the same for a lot of others. That one is my favorite of the series.
startrekiborg
Yea, but Geordi should have asked if she was alright.
startrekiborg
🤞
Matt Newmark
I notice you used... THREE A's there. Nicely done.
Nicholas Jennings
I always get the feeling of dread whenever Beverly's glass breaks. She goes out of her way to prevent it every time, but each time it inevitably breaks. It's the most disturbing part of the episode. Well done. This episode is AAA
Jeffrey
Same - second favorite of the season
Jeffrey
Currently THREE percent of the votes are wrong
Eric Traylor
This is probably my second favorite episode of season 5 (My all-time favorite episode of season 5 is still yet to come), Fantastic WTF hook and great time loop story with great resolution and an appearance from Kelsey Grammer at the end, S tier all the way
Jovet
I am extremely confident the guys are going to love this one. ❤️❤️❤️
Jovet
I'm surprised nobody posted a "THREE Cheers for that idea!" or something.
startrekiborg
Mikey, he hates everything.
Jovet
You don't enjoy Romulan Ro's "rob"-do?
Jovet
We control the vertical, and the horizontal.
Jovet
Because the universe wasn't random! 😁
Jovet
The Main Shuttle Bay is never really shown on screen, from the inside.
Jovet
Who could hate this one?? *eyes TA suspiciously*
Jovet
It's still just an A for me.
Jovet
I am experiencing nIb'poH—the feeling I have read this comment before.
Jovet
Calling the stations? Really? But each shot was unique! 🤦
Jovet
“If that were true, what could 'three' indicate?” *cuts to Riker with his three rank pips*
Jovet
@Nolan The Bozeman was in their own loop, for years. The Enterprise's presence altered the Bozeman's loop. The Enterprise's loop was separate.
Jovet
Here's a question: did Beverly become a bit more sensitive to this situation because of her time in Wesley's warp bubble universe?
Dan Here
I see, i always tough they were stuck on that loop for 80 years 😅
Matt Newmark
Do not adjust your picture. You have been conditioned to watch it at least THREE times.
Matt Newmark
"Those poor people..." - A termite.
Matt Newmark
Fun fact, "THREE Is a Magic Number" was originally aired 7 days before I was born. For my name day, they aired "The Four-Legged Zoo" - but let's not dwell on the number four at this time. Having schoolhouse rock come into existence as I did is one of my favorite things!
Matt Newmark
Yeah but number THREE was expertly executed w/ the overcoat.
Jovet
Beverly's second glass breaking is really botched. haha
Jovet
@Matt Newmark Director's last laugh.
Nolan
@Jovet How? Enterprise's clocks were 17 days off. That is how long they were in the loop. How could the Bozeman collide with them earlier than they were in the loop if the Enterprise wasn't there until 17 days ago? What initiated the loop for the Bozeman, what was their reset point? In one of the conferences, Geordie specifically explains that a large enough explosion next to a tempral distortion would disrupt the space-time continuum and get them stuck in the loop. If the explosion is the destruction of the Enterprise, then what would've caused the loop for the Bozeman for the 100 years before the Enterprise arrived in the area to explode?
Jovet
Mmmmm. Nutmeg! I don't consider this a Beverly episode, though.
Jovet
That's what you are supposed to do. Naturally I didn't. But it was a most engrossing and intriguing way to start an episode!
Jovet
He was too busy listening to the romantic encounters in order to understand human intimacy.
The Travelers Travels
Then why all the 3's? 😂
Jovet
I assure you, the cards are sufficiently randomized.
Jovet
I thought the pacing was perfect.
Jovet
Nah. Just an "A"
Pokeysaurus
I remember watching this episode live, and it being so compelling that I was yelling at the commercials to end so I could find out how everything resolved! It can be tough to get the pacing right when the climax effectively happens multiple times during the plot, but Frakes and Braga pulled it off very well and kept the tension high without much of a musical score to lean on(The poker scene in particular is one of my favorite scenes in the whole series). Easy S and one of my favorite episodes of the season.
Jovet
@Nolan The Bozeman was in the loop for more than 17 days, though.
Jovet
Doesn't really get much more "WTF???" than that, does it?
Jovet
Yep always a fresh perspective. Really well done!
Thicketdweller
Like they taught us in those schoolhouse rock videos: 3: it’s a magic number!
Ron Hubbard Jr
How it opened and kept repeating the whole sequence.
Kyle Stewart
LOVE this episode. Well written and good direction keeps it fresh. Not quite S-tier for me but one I really do enjoy on the rewatch.
Nolan
That's... what I said? Unless you're saying the anomaly was a time loop anomaly and not a time travel anomaly? I'm just saying that the explosion, coupled with the proximity to the anomaly caused the loop.
Paul O'Neal
The WTF?!?!? opening, the mystery, and the resolution are all superb IMO. Top notch Star Trek right here. S for sure.
Jovet
I disagree. The anomaly existed before, it was just exacerbated through time by the explosion of the Enterprise.
Jovet
Why were you aggravated?
Jovet
Probably my second-favorite.
Ron Hubbard Jr
I agree with you about the Bozeman's effect on history and the lack of an altered reality like we saw in "Yesterday's Enterprise". The sequence of events for the Bozeman was entirely linear, in effect, this was supposed to happen to them in my opinion. Although it isn't mentioned, I suspect that if Data or Picard had consulted the records on the Bozeman it would've said that the ship disappeared without a trace on that stardate.
Ron Hubbard Jr
This may be the biggest WTF opening for you guys of the entire series.
Adam Dearn
Man, thank you. I missed that every time! My only gripe with the episode was how would the Captain of The Bozeman not figure out in a century what Picard & Co. figured out in 17 days. I always just assumed Kelsey Grammer was a terrible Captain and had nude photos of somebody in Starfleet and was thus given command of The Bozeman... I guess this episode IS an S.
Ron Hubbard Jr
This is my favorite episode of Season 5.
Ron Hubbard Jr
Man, was I ever aggravated as hell when this episode came out. I hated it on the first watch. But something made me want to keep watching it and every time I did, I realized how freaking brilliant it is, and it is now one of my personal favorites of TNG.
jon bolton
I look forward to seeing your faces at the pre-credits incident.
jon bolton
A fantastic episode, very cleverly done. I'm pretty sure you guys wil love it. S
Matt Newmark
Hmm do you think? There are plenty of episodes where the boys rate the episode lower than the "average" would expect (I mean at least... THREE times). I don't think they've shown a statistical top box bias in their rankings overall. There are so many A+/S- episodes, it comes down to so little to tip the balance, end of the day your take is right on.
Matt Newmark
I see you respond well to stimulus. S with THREE plusses is the absolute correct score here.
Matt Newmark
A kid, you say... Perhaps as early as THREE years old?
Ian Westcott
Yeah, when I first saw this episode I didn't realize that the "time loop" and temporal disturbance were two different things (with the loop being enabled by the power of the explosion next to the disturbance).
Ian Westcott
BEST cold opening ever! This is, no question, my favorite TNG episode. It's not "the best episode," but it is my favorite. Any time I've had a bad day, I come home and I'm in the mood for a really good, fun episode of Star Trek, then Cause and Effect is my go-to. I love this one. It's S+++ tier for me.
Gregory Foster
This is one of my favorite go-to episodes. I loved it as a kid, and I still do.
John
This is a really good, solid, enjoyable episode with a mystery and the Enterprise blowing up. It's not quite an S for me, but it probably will be for you, since you're more generous with S than I am. But it is an upper-range A-tier episode, and it is one that I have watched more than once and will very much enjoy watching with you guys when you get to it.
Nolan
Cheers for your take.
Nolan
Continuity note: The Effect of the other ship, the Bozeman, coming forward in time is the same visual effect as when the Enterprise -C travelled forward in time. Something many miss is that the Bozeman was not in the loop for a century, but also only 17 days. It was the Enterprise blowing up in close proximity to the time rift the Bozeman travelled through that caused the loop, not the anomaly itself. I guess the Bozeman and her crew's impact on history was so terribly minor to not change the timeline at all. Bummer for them.
Nolan
The Bozeman was also only in the loop for 17 days. Them coming through the rift was the same as when the Enterprise-C came forward. It's even the same VFX. So the Bozeman comes forward, hits the Enterprise, which blows up next to the timehole and THAT causes the loop.
John Pierce
S - this is my favorite episode of TNG.
Column Meanie
Yeah I’m not surprised anymore. When I taught high school I made references to Gilligan’s Island or the Brady Bunch and the kids had no idea. We’re screwed lol
Matt Newmark
Especially the number THREE.
Matt Newmark
Number THREE? Subliminal messaging at its best!
Matt Newmark
Well, times THREE anyway.
Dan Here
What a brilliant episode. And the way we are brough into the solution from so many POV is priceless. Only thing i can't understand is why it took so many years for Frasier to get it 😅 Groundhog Day 🖖
Jason Shearer
It's a very good episode, but it falls short of S tier for me. Very close though. While the intro hook is amazing, the plot sometimes feels a little convoluted. The lack of Daphne and Niles in this one makes the episode alot less comedic. And its strange that they decided not to have the story take place in Seattle. It's still a great one that I wouldn't hesitate to rewatch. Definitely better than the new Paramount Frasier series.
Prof Moff
This is a perfect episode to me. I love everything about it. I am guessing fans will show this a lotta love...............So you guys will hate it
EnigmaticPenguin
I think you guys will really like this one. It's a bold choice to kill everyone in the teaser, then just pick up like nothing happened and not start to reveal or acknowledge the main plot device to the audience and characters until after the third loop. Frake's directing is really on point too. I really liked how the camera placement got more unconventional as we got deeper in the loops like that high angle shot of the conference room.
Sixto
Best hook ever times 5 ? You better believe the S!
Alexander McKechnie
Always loved this one. I love the build up of clues and the stack up of differences every loop. And the Bozeman is my favorite Reliant variation!
General Trelane
I love the way this episode is shot by Frakes! the loop is always interesting even though we are watching the same scenes again and again.
Max Yoder
When this came out initially after the first commercial break I thought that the studio must have screwed something up. It was a really well done episode with another "no real bad guy" story done very well.
Gruzz
#3 of my top 4 TNG episodes (in release order), so a solid S. This is how you write and direct a good "time shenanigans" story, something that a lot of shows (including Star Trek) often do badly. I've re-watched this many times and never get bored, which is impressive given the repetitive nature of the episode. Bonus points for Captain Crane.
Dark Kronis
you must admit one of the best hooks for a episode starts with a bang, be funny if when you do the youtube version you edit in the end credits for a laugh
Jon1701
How long before Josh looks at the disc to see if it is broken during the teaser? Oh and S Tier 😉🖖
Loki San
S tier - Grand Episode. One of the best of TNG in my opinion. Also, Frakes understands the characters, show and fans very well, which is very obvious in most of his directed episodes.
Spencer Loften
One of the best episodes of TNG.
Phillip Grischa
Great episode, I only deduct half a point for Riker's flawed logic. He said reversing course might be what caused the time loop in the first place but before they knew about the time loop there would have been no reason to reverse course so obviously staying on course is what started this.
Shanelle
“Talks like a psych to be cool” 😂
LonghillAndy
ALL HANDS RATE IT S! I Repeat all hands! S tier: 💥
Greg Quinn
The cheers "crossover" (I know it's not technically a crossover) would have been insane with Alley. Also did you know most 30 and under people know nothing about the TV show Cheers?😬
Greg Quinn
Also Troi can read emotions. My theory is Geordi doesn't cheat. Data turns himself "down" like he did to lose to Troi at chess. And Troi just doesn't read people to make it fair. Finally Worf wouldn't actually kill anyone for losing or even cheating. He just talks like a psycho to be cool.
Greg Quinn
Josh, Alex if y'all don't find this to be a S I'm leaving and never coming back. Kidding on that. But seriously I'll be shocked.
Ken R
This was enjoyable, just too bad Ro got nothing to do, so minus points for that. I think I prefer the murder one from a couple of seasons back, but this was very solid. Season 5 seems to be the best season of all (although I skipped S4). Just let the record show this getting almost 80% S tier, and sure enough, no one is crying, no babbling on about honor, no violins, no shy people being cute, no kids, and most of all-most of all- the ship is in danger. People can say whatever they want, the numbers don't lie.
Matt Newmark
Going the Conan O'Brien route here and fully committing to the bit.
Mr Moxie
Voted A. It is very memorable and distinct, what keeps it out of S for me is that because of its conceit, it struggle a bit when it comes to pacing. I remember being really compelled by it originally, so maybe it's S on first viewing and A on rewatches.
Matt Newmark
And yet Riker was the one with the good suggestion all along, totally ignored for (almost THREE) weeks :D
Matt Newmark
Not surprising as there are THREE contact points on the letter B.
startrekiborg
I was just about to say what the heck is it with you and replying to everyone with "three". Well...duh!! That's funny. I can't believe I didn’t notice that sooner.
Matt Newmark
THREE would have been better.
Matt Newmark
What if, for reasons unknown - I give it a THREE?
captveg
The concept in general is now far more common in film/TV but was original in March 1992. Still holds all its power in its opening hook, and the clue Data invents and then subsequently discovers is expert in its simplicity. Also great to get a Crusher led episode again. S all the way.
Matt Newmark
Did you know that there are THREE lines in an A?
Matt Newmark
I don't see how anyone can rate it higher than THREE, but my subconscious might be influencing that notion.
Matt Newmark
Nice to see you repeated your original quote THREE more times.
The Ninth Doctor
S tier. One of the best hooks in the show, up there with Yesterday's Enterprise for pure shock value, and a great Frakes directed episode.
The Ninth Doctor
Poker game- Geordi, can see through cards. Data- supercomputer. Worf - will rip your arms off if he loses. Riker - no superpowers, wins every time 🤣
startrekiborg
Lol
Jason Lallathin
Announcer: tune in next week for the adventures of a totally new crew on a totally new ship! Starring Brent Spiner as Captain Lore!
Nolan
"This came out before Groundhig day." "This came out before Groundhog Day." "This came out before Groundhog Day." "This came out before Groundhog Day"... looks like the Enterprise isn't the only one in a time loop.
Nolan
This was a very innovative episode, that now every Sci-fi franchise takes a crack at. Not sure how you guys'll like it, considering the entire episode has you ahead of the characters and repeating things over and over. Frakes knocked it out of the park on directing, though partially out of necessity of all those repeating scenes. And it's another Beverly focused episode ala "Remember Me," so it's a toss up. A at least for me.
Mike Rogers
Now it can be told... the leftover pieces of the Enterprise model they made to blow up were bought by Red Letter Media. That is how S tier many find this one. It's always fun to watch this episode unfold.
Anthony Goodwin
ALL HANDS, ABANDON SHIP! REPEAT: ALL HANDS ABANDON...! *Enterprise is destroyed* *Alex & Josh are speechless*
Column Meanie
“This is Captain Morgan Bateson. I’m listening.”
The Travelers Travels
Let's do the time warp again! S note: don't play cards with Data
Column Meanie
Groundhog Day before that movie existed. One of the best episodes of the series. Kudos to Frakes who really dove deep into the camera work making every act unique. Fun fact: they wanted to get Kirstie Alley to reprise Saavik for the end, but she wouldn’t do it. S for “starboard nacelle has sustained a direct impact!”

Another great episode that I watch over and over again. Another great episode that I watch over and ... wait.
Timothy Nikiforovs
I see I'm not the only one who went for that comment format
tkitez (take it easy)
A tier for me, it's a genre standard and executes well on all fronts but I would personally rather watch Conundrum for the first time again. For a rewatch, definitely this because it's fun to match memory to the show beat for beat. That said, I'm sure you two are going to shit on the episode because it's too plot-centric and too much of a genre standard.
Timothy Nikiforovs
I don't think there's anything guilty about that pick. It's a great episode. Maybe not the most conventional #1 pick, but I can absolutely see it being someone's favourite.
Timothy Nikiforovs
One of the screams Data picked out from the voices.
Timothy Nikiforovs
You'd think this episode would get boring given it's the same events repeating over and over, but it just grabs you and doesn't let go, and the final product is quite entertaining. It's a classic for a reason. But you'd think this episode would get boring given it's the same events repeating over and over.....
Matt Newmark
Another Frakes directorial banger. Having to come up with THREE sometimes more ways to shoot the same scene produced some great angles. Definitely THREE out of THREE stars for this - episode THREE times six.
Rhett Coates
Oh, that was a good one, Raphael. Oh, that was a good one, Raph. Oh, that was a good one. (THIRD time was the charm, in this episode.)
startrekiborg
Yes, for whatever odd reason, I only have a top four. This is number three. OMG!!! I just realized that it's my third favorite, and "3" was such an important part of the story. I can't believe I never noticed that. Nice catch Matt!!
Matt Newmark
Yeah, at least one of the first THREE...
Matt Newmark
Did you say... this was your number THREE?
Matt Newmark
More than THREE, that's for sure.
Matt Newmark
Apparently the main shuttle bay is large enough to house THREE of the largest shuttle type craft they have in Star Trek.
Aramis Calcutt
Kirstie Alley was supposed to appear as Lt. Saavik in this episode, but was unable to work it into her schedule.
Matt Newmark
Maybe you just had to see it THREE times...
Matt Newmark
Yeah maybe even top THREE for the season, who knows?
Matt Newmark
You sure it's not one of your top... THREE?
Matt Newmark
Hmm I never made that assumption (Though it's a valid theory for sure) - I like to believe that the Bozeman came through the temporal anomaly and caused the loop, but it was a direct passage from their time to TNG's. Primarily this is because I can't reconcile their lack of insanity given how affected the TNG crew was after only 17 days.
Rogerbear60
One of my favorite episodes. I remember the first time seeing this and the horrible feeling at the end of the hook. After the commercial break it's back to business-as-usual on the Enterprise. And then it happens again. And again. And again. This was so wild to watch and noticing the subtle differences each time they restarted, especially on the bridge. And it's mostly just general around-the-ship activity such as the poker game, Georgi in sick bay, the Doctor getting ready for bed, Picard reading his book. I'd give this one an S. Such a cool story.
Jeffrey
One of my top 5 episodes. Great opener, really great direction with different camera shots each loop. Just awesome
#MaxwellDidNothingWrong
Somewhere is an Ensign that slammed their pinky toe against a dresser every loop
Thicketdweller
I have been waiting for this episode since a matter of perspective: Same Groundhog Day story better executed better pacing + Ensign RO, And Long live The Bozeman and her crew and Captain Morgan Bateson. Just great Star Trek
GreenCauldron08
I've been hyped for this ever since your reaction to seeing things retold from multiple viewpoints in "A Matter of Perspective"! I'm guessing this will be one of your favourite episodes!
Jack Molitor
This is my FAVORITE TNG episode. Not because I believe, intellectually, that it is the best episode, it’s just always been a guilty pleasure of mine. An S-tier, nonetheless. Oddly enough, I find it a good one-off to start people who aren’t Trekkies. I’ve been looking forward to how you guys will react to it, but admittedly not sure whether you’ll like it or not. “ALL HANDS ABANDON SHIP!”
Wrestling With Gaming
I remember being 11 years old and gasping during the cold open when this aired. Probably the best hook/cold open in all of TNG. They brilliantly do the same scenes over and over again and it never gets boring or stale.
Collin Freeman
Let's play some poker! Fun episode. Love a good time loop - it's deja vu all over again. Good execution of the different loops. Kelsey Grammer must have been giddy to be in a Star Trek episode playing a Star Fleet officer. At least an A for me.
Lovok
This ridiculously fun episode aired almost an entire year before "Groundhog Day" with Bill Murray mainstreamed the time loop concept. Easy to think this script was written off the success of the movie, but nope!
Keith S
Some people said they could walk away to do something else while watching because it reapeated so much. Kept thinking ground hog day myself. Stil, the WTF hook along wit a cameo by Kelsy Kramer make the episode quite unique. Gets an S from me.
ScarlettMi
One of my all time favourite episodes. I’m a sucker for a good time loop.
Eric Wilson
I really like this episode and the somewhat mystery element. S all the way.
Tom Occhipinti
When Frakes received this script, he initially thought it was a joke due to its repetitive nature. MANY people were confused.... not just Frakes.... wondering if there was a mistake because the acts kept repeating. Frakes said that once he realized the writer (Brannon Braga) wasn't F---ing with" him, he embraced the challenge and found it enjoyable.
Crush
I hated this episode when it aired, now it's one of my favorites.
Forbidden Donut
The only bad thing I can say about this episode is Ro's new God-awful haircut lol I think this one is a lot of fun. Great opener, good mystery, it's fun watching them figure it out and try to get out of the loop, and it's even capped off with a fun cameo at the end with Kelsey Grammer. I've read that they originally wanted Kirstie Alley to come back as Saavik as the last-minute cameo. That would have been pretty cool to see her again.
tyranusfan
Great direction in this one! Frakes makes each run through feel unique.
Connor Fallon
This is such a good one, just imagine how large the main shuttle bay has to be so that it's decompression throws the ship forward. Also, I really wonder what Beverly is drinking... some yummy cordial probably.
rear adm. crackbiscuit
McFadden proves herself the go-to for ‘eerily mystified’ once again. That poker game. Easy S.
John M.
S. One of the best 4 or 5 cold opens in all of Trek.
Nathan Walker
Fun fact, Johnathan Frakes thought he was being pranked when he started reading the script, as every act began the same. He did such a good job in what he was taught as an up in coming director. The camera work by itself is top notch. As the episode goes on, you feel yourself being peeled away from reality. Just a great episode and a guilty pleasure of mine. And bonus Fun fact, they wanted the Bozeman to be a cheers reunion and tried getting Kirstie Alley to reprise her role as Savvik as the “other woman on the bridge” but sadly that didn’t happen.
GratChat
The woman standing next to Kelsey Grammer was apparently originally planned to be Saavik, which would have been an amazing way to bring her back seeing as they didn’t for The Undiscovered Country - though it would only have made me more annoyed we don’t see things from the Bozeman crew’s perspective.
Adam Zey
Fun fact: they didn't re-use any footage between loops, and tried to use different camera angles each time. Frakes found it quite hard to come up with so many new camera angles!
Worf and Riker Ride Again
Such a simple storyline and set of events but so well done, easily one of my favourites. Can’t wait to see your reaction of the opening hook!
Robert Kozelou
For me, this is the second best episode of season 5, and an easy S tier. It sets up a compelling mystery with a satisfying conclusion. Kelsey Grammer is just the cherry on top.
ShazD
Loved that Beverly got two great eps so close together.
valen
Only God knows how many times I've rewatched this episode!
Loot Narsbaar
Want to see the degree of deja vu the Bozeman's crew is experiencing after being in the rift 10,000x longer
Ross Townsend
Complete package S. Sharp direction, multiple camera shots for the same scenes, great use of our cast, and Geordi gifts us the best response meme for reposts.
Paul Rymer
S tier, so creative and totally engrossing on a first watch. On a rewatch it gets better as you can spot the details. I think it’s the source of a very long-running meme as well.
Andrew F.
When first aired, viewers called their local TV stations thinking they were mistakenly restarting the episode after every commercial break. One of JFs finest, in my opinion. Also, that hook was chef’s kiss💥
Raphael Gaytan
Best damn opener of the entire series!!! Left me with my jaw on the floor, wondering what the actual f**k just happened?! This episode was “Groundhog Day” before “Groundhog Day” hit theaters one year later! All that and Captain Frasier Crane…a well-deserved S-Tier!! Sorry, I couldn’t resist! 🖖😆

I love this episode!!! This is my third favorite episode of the series. I think it’s one of those episodes that you either love or hate. I think some people can’t stand the live, die, repeat premise. I just love the story and seeing the Enterprise blow up again, again, and again. Shout out to Kelsey Grammer, and dam those credits!!

What a way to traumatize a kid, by watching his favorite ship blow up. This episode always terrified me in the beginning scene. After that it was a good episode so B Grade for BOOM!

A great Episode, manages to not be repetitive due to great cinematography, and a great cameo at the end. Who knew Fraser Crane was a starship Captain?
Phil Ken Sebben
My favorite off the beaten path episode. Brilliant direction that makes the same scenes repeated never boring. S+
THE LORE!!!
I think this episode is an S tier and one of the best episodes in the franchise. Unrelated to watching it but you guys should definitely do a time loop skit when you do your edit or whatever, it'd be too good an opportunity not to.

One of my all-time favorites. We’re onto the mystery from the start but that doesn’t detract from the plot (plots?). And it’s another example of how screwed they would all be without Data.

Captain "Frasier Crane" comes to the TNG present (2368) all the way from approximately the year 2278, which basically means he and his ship have been stuck in that loop since sometime between The Motion Picture and The Wrath of Khan.

When I introduce someone to Star Trek, this is amongst the few episodes I recommend they start with -- fun and accessible.

This one has quite possibly the best “hook” of the entire franchise. And lots and lots of poker. Yes, you'll probably figure out what's going on long before the characters do, and if you know who he is you might keep wondering where Kelsey Grammer is considering his appearance is spoiled in the opening credits, but I love this episode. Director Frakes and the production staff do a great job making each time loop slightly different than the previous one but keeping most of the same elements. A “Best of the Best” ranked episode for me

In my opinion, there are only about FIVE "S-Tier" episodes in the entire TNG series. This is one of them. That is, if S-Tier is based upon quality alone... something akin to A+. If "S" tier is simply something that personally resonates with me, theoretically despite deficiencies... then that system is alien to me. Yes, personal resonance is meaningful, but belongs on a different scale. I'm all about quality. That said, for quality, it's A+, and yes... since it does resonate with me... I'll give it that S as well.
