Yeah.... Max just couldn't just run for it until she got Holly sorted for her own portal. Otherwise she'd be abandoning her. And I don't even think that Vecna was a worry... because no way would Henry follow them thru his most traumatizing memory, at this point.

That was a beautiful break-up scene between Jonathan & Nancy. It's been coming for over 2 Seasons now. And I have very much wished for Nancy to be on her own, focusing on her future, without either guy in tow. But that was honestly the most loving break-up ever done. (And it was surprising to me to see how many folks online didn't realize that it was a break-up. The Duffers had to confirm it. Seemed really clear to me with all the talk of 'suffocating', how they haven't been being honest with each other, trauma keeping them together, and the un-proposal.)

That ending was so beautiful for Max and Holly. On the first watch I was too busy shouting GO! JUST GO! to appreciate it. But on rewatches you realize there's no real emergency urgency for them. Sure Vecna could appear in that exit space, but barring that, Max has realized she didn't need the music anymore. Just her connection to Lucas. So the portal wasn't going to vanish this time.

The dark matter has simply calmed down again and therefore no longer melts reality. It is back in the state of equilibrium they found it to be. :D

Great episode, seriously great acting. I love holly so much she’s such a great addition to the season. My only gripe would be the scene with Jonathan and Nancy they were saved purely by the power of plot armor with that lol.
