University - Custom Degrees OFFICIAL RELEASE
🕑 Added 2021-03-13 07:35:54 +0000 UTCI still have to add a couple of Degrees but the mod seems to be stable and I can add them later, because I need some rest and I want to use this in my game right now, so I decided to release it, and add the couple of other degrees I still have to add, later.

THIS MOD ADDS MORE DEGREES YOUR SIMS CAN PICK IN BOTH UNIVERSITIES.
Right now, there are 15 custom degrees included:
Chemistry, Veterinary Medicine, Music, Archaeology, Health, Sport & Performance, Folklore & Mythology, Social justice, Philosophy, Creative Digital Media, Education (Primary), Environmental Science, Criminology, Painting and Photography.
They work exactly like Maxis degrees and have their own custom Textbook and their own Presentation.
Folklore & Mythology is a special one, is mostly meant for Writers, so the skill you work on is that one BUT it gives a XP gain bonus to Vampires and Witches, and upon completing it, it also gives you the Paranormal Investigator license.
The degree are distinguished in:
Foxbury:
Chemistry, Veterinary Medicine, Health, Sport & Performance, Health, Sport & Performance, Environmental Science, Criminology.
UBrite:
Music, Archaeology, Folklore & Mythology, Social justice, Philosophy, Creative Digital Media, Education (Primary), Painting, Photography.
THE MOD IS MODULAR:
The MAIN Package
This is the one you want to pay attention to. The files I needed to override from Maxis are all inside this Package (along with the string tables) so it's the only one that can cause conflicts (everything else is all new tunings)
This mod will conflict with:
- mods adding courses or electives to Universities (not that i know about others, but it's been a long time since I went looking for what other people are doing since I'm so sick of patches and going around to update stuff that I'm just letting thing go to shit without updating other mods unless my mod folder explodes)
- mod altering the university_CourseSchedule tunings Blocks 7 and 9, potentially mods altering the career tones in these career levels of every schedule (A, B, C and D)
- mods altering the interactions studying_CreateBook (I doubt there are)
- mods altering the loots: loot_Diploma_SetTypes and loot_Diploma_CreateDiploma
This mod will NOT conflict with: mods changing the price of the courses, mods changing the scholarships, mods changing the length of terms... all of this should work just fine.
The Shared Tuning Package
Books, traits, and all the tuning that doesn't need special attentions is in here, this file is always required. This has only new resources.
MAJORS
There are two versions: EA and Zer0
EA has the standard Maxis tuning to get accepted into distinguished degrees for my custom degrees
Zer0 has my tuning from Harder Distinguished Degree Acceptance applied to the new degrees, too. This doesn't even need the original mod to work (you can mix EA setting for this mod, mine for Maxis Degrees or my settings for this mod and EA for Maxis degrees)

This has the tuning of the single courses and there are two versions of this, too:
EA: standard price for the custom courses (240)
Zer0: University Costs More's prices for the custom courses, EA's are unchanged unless you have the other mod. Medicine and Veterinary have a higher price.

If you're a modder and have your own version of the cost for the courses, and want to change the price for these, too, fell free to do so and feel free to share, this is the package you want to change. File names follow Maxis standard, so you'll have no problems identify things. I'll release the loose xmls for the courses I'll add in the future, so you'll be able to import them in your customized file without having to change all of them again.

These are the presentations left separated to easily add more in the future, all the 4 files inside the folder are required

OPTIONAL
In the optional folder you can find:
Required Degree for Promotion
The full mod, adapted to work with this mod, with my custom degrees added. Replace the original one with this one if you decide to use it.
A package that will lock the option to purchase the veterinary clinic unless you have a veterinary degree.
None of these two things is required.
About Careers:
I decided to NOT ad my Custom Degrees to the Career Jumping system. Actually, I decided to remove Maxis careers too.
I hate it.
The Degrees will work with careers thanks to Required Degree for Promotions, but they will not have a bonus in terms of pay, because apart from hating it too, the only reason I didn't remove it (yet) is that I'd need to modify all of the career levels both to delete them or add into them my own degrees.
If you have the testing version: delete it. Also clean the cache.

Fixed Doctor testing for Music instead of Medicine and other minor problems here and there

Mathematics (only needs the tuning, everything else is done), Astronomy, graduated Law and Education (will require another degree to get inside), Business.

[Love the mod] My sim keeps failing one module (a+ in all others) but I think because it doesn't have a specific skill attatched like the others do, do you know how I can pass it, otherwise she can't graduate!

That's weird the outcome of the course isn't controlled by anything inside the major tuning but inside the degree module which isn't touched by this mod (it's touched by longer degree).

I've been having quite a lot of trouble with the Health, Sport, and Performance science degree. My sim has consistently failed "Tai Chi for sport and health" as well as "Appl Nutr Health Ex and Sp perf" despite having high scores in both. It's the distinguished degree version. My most recent download of this was the 8th of May this year but I was having issues with these classes before (I haven't played in a while)

I'm using this mod in my game, it's still working. Before reporting a "broken mod" you always need to test it alone.
Hi ! I think the mod might be broken ? I tried to enroll in music, but the term just won't begin at all. I waited multiple days and nothing is happening, Am I the only one experiencing this ?

So I’ve run into an issue. My sim can’t enroll in vet medicine at britrchester. It’s saying it’s a distinguished degree but it shouldnt be at that school.

sure I forgot that one. I'll not do the bonus pay because it would require to override all the careers in game, a pain to keep updated and would cause conflicts with too many other mods. Unless I find a way to do it via buffs without overriding maxis files, we'll see but it's not a priority.
Hi Zero! Absolutely love your mods, they make the game harder in a more fun way! I was wondering about the RequiredDegreeForPromotion-Strangerville, since it's missing in this folder, but it's still in the other one: "University - Required Degree... but for promotions!" Will you add it here as well? I was also wondering if you could make it an option to have the bonus pay or not, if it's not too much trouble?

Hey Zero, I'm so sorry, but I seem to be experiencing a really small issue with the newest version of the mod - my sim has a distinguished degree in Environmental Science, but the actual name of the degree isn't showing up properly... Here's a link to a picture of what I'm seeing: https://imgur.com/a/rssHSmK I tried clearing my cache & everything, but that doesn't seem to be solving the problem... The degree was obtained after I got the newest patch, and his diploma is totally fine - it's just the area in the sim details panel that's not working, for some reason... Sorry to bug you for something this tiny, but I just wanted to let you know. Thanks so much...

You can upload a screenshot on imgurl and paste me the link in a comment. This sounds like a problem in the UI... I may have messed up some data file. Does the sim you're trying to open the panel with have a degree or a career, and if yes which one?

hi zero! I've been having a bit of an issue with the required degree for promotions addon. The careers tab is missing the promotions section and sometimes the tab won't open at all. Took me a while to figure out what was causing the issue but its only happening when I have the required degree part. I took all my other mods out and only put in required degree in my mods folder and the issue was still there.

Do you have the testing cheats enabled in MCCC? There are various ways to give them the traits back. The simplest one is having the option enabled, shift click on your sims, go under cheat sim info and add trait. They're in alphabetical order, scroll until you find the one they had and add it back. Otherwise you can add them via console, in which case I need to know the university they graduated from and if the degree was or not with honor to give you the exact cheat to type.

Yay ! Thanks for the super quick fix <3 So they kept their diploma, no issue with the sim profile, but as you thought they both lost their degree trait.

Ok, so I think there's a bug. My couple just graduated Medecine. I'm not super sure, but everything was okay until they looted their diploma. Since then none of them can gain access to any sim profile. Either it's blank or clicking it open does nothing at all. Edit: the bug may have occurred when the graduation ceremony happened (I cancelled it). I'm sure before that everything was okay. Still gotta test with a more vanilla save, but when I removed the mod they could see sims profiles again.

Do you have Get Famous? Also, i don't accept BE reports. Only LEs from the game, more often than not BE makes finding the problem HARDER than just looking at the original LE. Also that's job finding not this mod

BE is giving me a report on the mod! It says an "Exception occurred while attempting to populate a repeated field: (IndexError: list index out of range)" And it gives an invalid tuning in: career_Adult_Active_ActorCareer on None It is giving it in the Zero_ALL_JobFinding_MAIN.package

Am I totally wrong, or having a high school A grade gives a career jump in the job finding mod, but none of the university degrees ? I'm puzzled my darling... Anyway, 2000 thanks for this. Bringing back consistency in EA's lazy mess is everything I want <3
