I remember in an interview they mentioned not allowing kids to do magic or using magic on them would be "going too far". Whatever the hell that means.

Well actually, you can get a ghost child from the wishing well but they probably forgot about the wishing well altogether at this point.

Because child deaths in this game are supposed to be extremely rare I think. Or it could just be like everything else they have done with children. They are just a footnote in the game design. One step up from the occasionally screaming, smelly decor objects they call babies.
