Melee Weapon (Martial, Greatsword), Legendary, Requires Attunement
Damage: 2d6
Damage Type: Slashing
Properties: Heavy, Two-Handed
“Forged in a massive volcano on the elemental plane of fire, trapping a particularly violent flame elemental in its core. Fashioned after a macuahuitl, this weapon is a heavy slab of volcanic rock, littered with cracks glowing with magma, and edged with sharp protrusions of obsidian.”
You gain a +3 to Attack and Damage rolls made with this magical weapon. Attacks with this weapon deal Bludgeoning damage and are made with Disadvantage unless your Strength score is at least 18.
Obsidian Edge - When you succeed on an attack, the target takes an additional 1d4 Slashing damage. Each time you attack after this, the weapon’s attack bonus decreases by 1, but the slashing damage increases by 1d4, as the obsidian shards along the edges of the blade chip and fragment. After four successful attacks with the weapon, the shards are destroyed. These shards reform after 8 hours, as magma slowly seeps from the sword.
Controlled Eruption - When the sword has no obsidian shards left, the wielder can invoke the power of the flame elemental bound inside the sword.
As an action, you can force a small eruption of magma from the cracks in the sword, causing the area around you to fill with intense heat. All creatures in a 15ft radius must make a DC17 Dexterity saving throw, taking 8d6 Fire damage or half as much on a successful save. Almost immediately, the heat dissipates and the magma hardens into new obsidian spikes upon hitting the cool air. This ability may be used once per day, recharging at Noon each day.
