Update to the Brain

Hey all, It’s been a little while so I wanted to give another update on the brain stuff.
I figure these are easy enough to skip for people who don’t care (and that’s totally valid and fine xD).
^ But I know some folks genuinely want to know how this plays out, or are concerned (please don’t worry!).
So I’ll do these brain updates whenever I have some ground covered to report. It helps me, too.
Also these brain updates posts are public. I don’t want some weird “pay to see how I’m doing” BS.

Anyway, I like to write but I’ll keep things as brief as I can:
tldr or for those who missed it in winter; treatment-resistant depression has been an uphill battle for 15 years. So during a particularly rough winter, I began searching for “the next step” (no pun intended, I swear).
Fast-forward to now. I’m scheduled to finally begin rTMS in late June. It’s a therapy that utilizes magnetic waves to stimulate/reactivate certain parts of your brain. I had my intake appt back in April.
^ The reason I can’t begin sooner is bc the neuropsych wants me off 2 meds that aren’t safe for me to remain on during treatment.
The good news is that I’m a good match for a quicker course of rTMS that utilizes two treatments per day. So the 6 week course is cut to 3/3.5 weeks…which is a lot less disruptive to life and work.
The success rate seems pretty good. Most people respond at least somewhat (I’ll take it). Thankfully if depression relapses, maintainence sessions tend to get things back in-check. So I’m hopefully optimistic…
And for now, I’m just waiting…
The warmer weather has helped me go touch some grass. I’ve been looking after some cherry tomato, lettuce, and strawberry plants which, funilly, helps get me out of bed on days that are more difficult. God forbid MY CABBAGES go bad. And of course, I’m working on art, slowly but surely. Seeing my queue of owed work shrink is cathartic.
I’ll have some more work up as we get closer to the end of the month.

FOLLOW-UP ON THE DEPRESSION STUFF
I just got word that I was approved for rTMS treatment for treatment-resistant depression.
I have my intake appointment in early April.
Then, I'll need to go for daily treatments of 15 minutes for the next 4 - 6 weeks.
I'm ready for whatever, I just want to consistently start feeling better. In the meantime I've readjusted medication and am keeping busy + making progress with commissioned work as this is at the top of my priority list.

I have a friend who only very recently managed to get out of that somewhat at least after quite a few painful years... So yeah, neither are you alone with it, nor is it going to always be as bad as it is now! There will always be some way to imrpove things at least. Stay strong, big guy! Or... maybe rather small. Heh... ^^ Take care!

Thank you Rid! Seeking out more effective treatment was one of the best things I could do - I will keep pushing until I start to feel normal again. I hope others suffering from the same or similar are able to find relief as well.
