A good artist buddy I grew up with is helping w composition & roughs for new pieces.
I've attached some of my favorite pieces he's done + the original roughs he did for the "Cave of Wonders" comic (red pen).
He doesn't want to be credited due to the niche/adult nature of the work (understandable), but you can find him on Instagram at @slap_slapstar if that's your thing. He shines in the area of dynamic compositions and limited retro game color palettes.
He lays out the composition, or “framework” of pieces; the under sketch.
I then use that as a rough guide, make changes according to my discretion, and do my own artwork overtop. This ensures that there’s no change in style or approach.
Nothing change's on your end. If anything, you as the client may end up with more options regarding angles & poses for your character/s.
I’m learning better paneling and other tips from him as we work together, which is helping make me a better artist. So, it's a win all-around!
We plan to continue the artistic partnership until I’m eventually back on top of my workload.
