A bit of lore:
Only the matriarch or patriarch of the Gemback clan has been seen with gems growing from their plated hides.
Legend says that if the tough plated scales are plucked from the back of any Gemback, the plate may transform into a "mana-rich" gem. Nobody has yet to prove this.
