I have to disagree. From my experience, when someone says they want to go out somewhere with you as a thank you, it doesn't mean the other person likes you. It can literally just means "you offered, sure I want a free meal, a free trip to an aquarium, amusement park, etc". And you treating it as anything more than that suddenly becomes "Oh, no. You read too much into this. I don't see you that way." I've learned that until you ask for clarification whether it's a date or an outing, it's best to assume it's just an outing and nothing more.
